Our visit to Cadiz was a pleasant surprise. It turned out to be a most charming captivating port of call. We did not book a tour. We could have gone to Seville and the Andalusian area. But instead we bought tickets for a hoponhopoff bus and had a great tour of the city.We got on close to the ship and rode to the other side of the city where got off to stroll down the street. We found a great

Cadiz

Was surprised to learn that Cadiz Spain is the oldest continuously occupied city in Western Europe. The Phoenician merchants set up shop here in 1100 B.C. We had a five hour excursion planned that did a little tour of the city and then headed out to Jerez de la Frontera to see the famous Spanish Andalucian horses and drink a little sherry. A lot of Spanish towns in this part of the World have

May 1 2008Today was Da de Los Trabajadores Labor Day in Spain. So naturally no one works and no one has school. We decided to relax at the beach in Cadiz for the day. Katie Mary Ellen Julie and I took the bus there. Then we found our way to a nice beach that wasnrsquot too crowded probably because it was only 1115 and layed out to tan.
Day 13 Cadiz Espaa

Today the ship is in Cadiz Spain. We got up and got ready to go with Christina and Dominique to explore the city. We walked around trying to find the Catedral Nueva. We found it and there was a ceremony in progress. We also got to hear the big pipe organ play. It was a pretty place. We continued walking and came upon an information station. Dom got a map that listed 4 themed walking tours.

This past Saturday I managed to travel to Cadiz for Carnaval. The first group I was supposed to go with had bus troubles so that trip was cancelled. It ended up working out okay because there are so many flyers posted around town about trips to Cadiz for Carnaval that I just called one of the numbers and since I was flying solo it was easy to get onto the bus. The occasion was known as Carnaval a wellknown citywide party in which everyone wears disfraces costumes.
