But as it was pretty expensive we decided it was for the best to move on so on Tuesday morning we headed for the boat with tears in our eyes. The scenery from the boat as you wizz down between the Cayes and the coast is amazing dense forest vegetation on the mainland side the trees huggin

Hi Everybody From Panama City we flew to Flores Guatemala a town on an island surrounded by the waters of Lake Peten Itza. It once had huge Mayan pyramids but they were destroyed by the Spaniards in the 1600's. Today the town has many buildings painted in bright colors. The town only has one paved roads. The other one lane roads may have once been paved but today they are only dirt and

The zoo and other stuff.

So we went to the zoo on Saturday. It was an adventure and definitely worth doing. We had to take an hour bus ride there and third world bus rides are pretty ridiculous. This one involved having to rush the bus because they don't actually sell tickets. Then about ten minutes in they made everyone randomly unload and reload onto a different bus. After that Deidre spent most of the ride s

We just wanted to let everyone know that we made it. It was a pretty easy trip. We both slept through the first flight and our lay over. Getting ready to board our flight from Houston to Belize we ran into our friends Sam and Bree who are here on vacation too. We rearranged our schedule a little so we can meet up with them later in the vacation and spend some time together. We went and tour

So this is our first blog entry. Sarah and I are headed to Belize for 13 days. We've both recently graduated and decided we deserved a few days in the sun. We haven't actually left yet it is more just to test it out. Our flight leaves at 2359 on 19 March and gets into Belize City at 1150 on the 20th. We're going to spend a few days in Belize City visiting the zoo and some museums. After t

We got to experience our first border crossing going from Mexico to Belize on Wednesday 17th. We had two options to take a taxi to the Mexican border do the formalities walk across the bridge into Belize and take a taxi to the immigration building and then get a bus to Belize City which sounded like a lot of hassle or get a direct bus to Belize City that would stop at the Mexican border wa

After leaving the Internet Cafe on my way to the hotel and plans of going to San Pedro for the day I met ElvisI have to say Elvis is the only Belizean man so far that approached me and wanted to help me and was not after anything else. I had initially booked my stay at Hotel de la Fuente for 3 days but I can't picture myself here any longer now that I did the Lamanai River Tour my only objective the day after I got to Orangewalk. A dog has obviously eaten the rooster that has been on my trail as he was the one who woke me at an early hour. 1st note t

Belize

So today was our first day of rediculous travel. We boarded a bus in Chetumal at 550 am for Belize City. At this point we were still riding on coach buses but you could tell the deterioration in quality as there was no bathroom on this one. Again the bus ride provided for scenic views. Around 730 we crossed out first border passing through a freezome in between Belize and Mexico called Coroza. C
