A friend emailed to let me know that she wasn't automatically receiving my blog updates and would have to start checking manually. Nancy I don't know if that was a subtle hint but suffice it to say there wasn't a technical problem...AntiguaAntigua is a beautiful and historical city in Guatemala. The streets are cobbled and the sidewalks run along the walls of the homes and businesses. It is

As soon as we stepped off the chicken bus in Antigua we knew we were going to love this little colonial city. The streets were buzzing with energy and many of the local women were wondering around in traditional dress which just added even more charm to it. We head through the markets and into the centre to find the Jungle Party hostel which again we loved instantly. It had a great atmosphere

Interesting experience getting to Antigua. I was going to share a taxi with Mimi one of the Canadians staying at Teresas but the taxi we called never came and we had to stop one on the street this means hes not reputable...no meters. We explain that he should drop me off anywhere on the street so I can catch the chicken bus on the way to the airport. I ask how much and he says 50Q 4.50

The next few days in Antigua were a bit of a blur to be entirely honest. I really didn't know what the hell I was doing there or where I was going. I could have spent six months waking up to the crispy cool air and a view of the mountains right out the front door of my hostel. I could have sat in Cafe 2000 watching subtitled American films every Saturday afternoon. Antigua was the kind of place

After leaving Guata our night consisted of bar hopping in Antigua. The family that hosted us after the Expeditors office freak out lives in San Lucas which is about 15 minutes from Antigua.
We arrived in Antigua on a beautiful sunny day with clear blue skies which enabled us to see this gorgeous city in the clutches of several active volcanoes. It was a stunning sight seeing this compact yet large colonial city with its cobbled street and lovely squares with its cold air but yet inviting atmosphere. It was easy to understand why so many eager Spanish students choose this city for t

The bus ended up being late and empty. Empty. Empty was becoming a reoccurring theme for me. But the bus driver told me that we were going to collect someone from the airport. So we drove twenty minutes back to the airport and waited. I wasn't getting my hopes up that it would be someone I could talk to but when she climbed on the bus I immediately struck up a conversation. I don't think I had

A miscommunication about rooming arrangements caused all of us a bit of stressa feeling Irsquom no longer familiar with. At home I would chew. Chew on what everyone said. Chew on who was wrong and why I was right. Chew on chocolate. Grind my teeth at night.Yesterday I made a different decision. I choose not to ruminate on what went wrong but
