Imagine you can touch the stars

Last night I went scuba diving on my first night dive. As luck would have it the plankton was bioluminescent. This means that 50 feet below the surface when we turned off our underwater lights we were surrounded by natural lights in the form of glowing plankton. Imagine the brightest starry night you have ever experienced in your life out in the middle nowhere with no city lights and no moon

It's hard work being in paradise

To get to paradise you need a plane. Having seen the tiny plane we thought we39d be on we became excited only to be led to an even smaller one. Our twelve seater felt like sitting in a retro minibus in the sky. As we drew nearer paradise the sky darkened and the rain started. Despite this the views were interesting the tubulence was interesting the next part of our journey was interesting

The idyllic palmfringed Corn Islands are located over 70 kilometres off the eastern Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. Its a couple of full days hard yakka to travel overland or the easier option is to fly in as we did from Managua with a quick stop in Bluefields. After about five minutes of arriving on Little Corn Island we met one of the islands more notorious locals Ennis though he is c

BIG CORNIf possible spend all of your time at Little Corn. Stay on Big Corn only if you have late or early flights and stay at Club Paraiso. The rooms are good but not great built for a dry climate and not the islands so they smell like mold and don39t let the air through but I really enjoyed my time there. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about all the affairs of both islands and

K There has been a lot of rice in Nicaragua. One day I realized that we had eaten rice with every meal for six days including breakfast Gallo Pinto rice beans with eggs cheese and tortilla is a breakfast staple here. For variety I therefore ordered a dinner with mashed potatoes. They were great but were accompanied with a side of rice We remarked on this to our hotel owner in Ma

I woke up this morning to another beautiful sunny day. It's warm breezy tropical I love it. We are spending another day doing as much of nothing as we can do. Sometimes that is just the best way to spend your time in our opinion anyway. Plus we are both on some sort of reading binge. I have already read 2 books I think Geoff is on his 3rd. Busy busy. The wind has picked up tonight the

Up early today to dive. This bed is so comfortable here the breeze is so cool I think I could sleep forever. The breeze just blows directly into our cabana straight through the room right off the sea. It keeps the bugs away provides for a pleasant nights sleep. And the sound of the waves crashing all night just lull you into deep sleep. I could stay forever. Really. This morning we said goo

It is ridiculously peaceful beautiful here. This morning we had breakfast here at Derek's. It is super chill here. We had breakfast with Ana Derek's wife their kids Lola Surya.
We slept like babies last night. Sooo tired from 3 dives in one day. It really wears you out. I woke up spent some quality time on the deck staring at the sea. I had a delicious cup of coffee. Real coffee brewed not the instant stuff that has become a staple in our lives in the coffee center of the world. Oh well. It still does the trick. After Geoff was up we walked into town a bit early to

Sitting on our little deck typing early this morning just happened to look up through a wide gap between two palm trees where something very large just jumped out of the ocean. I don't have a clue what it was but it looked like a stingray. Is that possible It was pretty far out in the ocean but I saw it in the air. I wonder what it was. Unless there's some sort of rectangular looking fish out

My broken finger still hurts. I broke it in Guatemala around the 1st of February. Almost 2 months ago. Shesh. At least it doesn't hurt to brush my hair anymore but it's still sensitive. Little taps on things in just the right way I get shooting pains. And it looks really funny. I have this huge knob off the side of my finger now. I guess my dreams of hand modeling are shattered. In our taxi to t

I took a Panga speed boat to Peal Lagoon a town on the lagoon of the same name further North up the coast. Again it has a mix of mainly AfroCaribbean and Mestizo inhabitants. It has a much more laid back feel than Bluefields the people are very friendly and relaxed and greet us with alright in a strong Caribbean accent. English is the main language. I met Francis a Swiss lady and he
