First day of Riding

Typical of my most recent adventures I got another late start to this day. I went to the Parkview for breakfast around 1045 AM. By the time I unloaded my sleds it was damn near 100 PM. It was typical early season riding. At this time the wet areas full of creeks haven frozen yet so I got to do some wet stream crossings. The snow was very good and only a couple sleds are around so its no

Well my 1000 AM departure estimate was off by 2 hours. I got going about noon. I'm getting ever lazier in the morning. 460 miles later I'm in Twin Lakes. There's about 14 of snow on the ground and they're calling for more every day. They also have a winter storm forecast for TuesdayWednesday expecting at least a foot of snow in that.I listened to almost all of Charles Kuralt's book afte

SUNDAY pictures of hike on next postWe grabbed breakfast at a restaurant called The Dog Patch before heading out for a day of hiking. I packed all sorts of food to eat at the campground but the Piranha Flys had a tendency to kill the mood. Our first stop was Munising Falls.
FRIDAYThe boyfriend and I decided to go camping for a week of my two week break from school and to take my former coworker John with us. Johnny is known to complain about not getting time off of work and that everyone gets to take vacations except for him because Lord knows Anderson Printing would implode without him. So. We left him no choice but to take a vacation with us. After debating

Today was nice. I didnrsquot have to wake up until the temperature was in the positives and even then it was warm enough for me to walk around in my bright orange flip flops and trousers and black slick jacket. Got up to at least 29 Not a cloud in the sky either.Over the past few weeks Irsquove been working on a project for Sarah. I took all of our favorite songs from our favorite musi

So I know this blog is supposed to be all about my trip to Mexico but I found out earlier this week that my professor for the course I took on Contemporary Latin American Culture Dr. Susan Goodrich passed away. Dr. Goodrich helped encourage my passion for Latin America and my passion for Latin America is why I chose Mexico as my study abroad destination. In a sense Dr. Goodrich helped guide m

Yesterday was definitely an odd day. I believe I got bit by a bee. Yes bit not stung. I was riding in town with my visor up since I love to feel the air on my face. I wear tinted polycarbonate glasses too just in case larger objects fly right into my eye. Some large bug flew in and hit me in the face and I thought it might be a bee but I couldnrsquot feel it crawling around on me. Norm

We left the campground and its mosquitoes and headed north on M123 to Tahquamenon rhymes with phenomenon Falls State Park. We went first to the upper falls and were amazed at how different they are. The water is brown from the tannin that leaches out of the cedar spruce and hemlocks. Below the falls the water is foamy caused by the combination of soft water the force of the water going ov

After leaving Canada and NY we made our way up through Lower Michigan into the Upper Penisula UP. We stopped in Macinac and took pictures of the lighthouse and the bridge onto the UP and then headed up to Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie. We saw a ship come through the locks while we were there and it was pretty interesting. The locks are right where the International Bridge provides access to Can

So....this time Audra was insistent on making the trek up Hogsback Mountain again. I say again not because we have gone there previously but becuase the first try was foiled by Audra's innate sense of direction. Well this trip was also doomed. Not only did we not make it but I also managed to break through the ice of the lake we found ourselves at. It was by the edge and not deep. Muddy thoug
