Can you see what I've done with the title here It's like I've been to Hungary and was feeling hungry as well Ah creativity lull or I've read too many British newspapers.Anyway in terms of a city break Budapest is simply awesome.
After a good nightrsquos sleep I set out this morning on a day of touring Budapest. My first stop was the Central Market a few blocks from the hostel. But itrsquos Sunday so it was closed. I did get a peak inside through the window and it looks enormous. I think I missed out on this one. From there I took a leisurely stroll over the bridge to the Buda side. I had my eyes set on climbing to the

After last nightrsquos merry making I along with all the other guests at the hostel took our times getting up and getting ready. I still hadnrsquot done any research on what there is to do in Budapest when Steve asked what I was up to today. He said a lot of people were going to a Turkish thermal bath in the city. Sure.
I arrived in Budapest this afternoon. Another uneventful train ride. The train was late again. They seem to always be. Not a big deal I donrsquot have grand plans here. The hostel in Budapest is a bit different than most Irsquove stayed at. Itrsquos much more of a laid back crowd. I could easily see them having the place on a beach with a campfire if they could. A guitar hung from above the

Statue Park

Today was my last day in Budapest so I had to check out of the BB after breakfast. Was able to store my bags while I did some last minute sightseeing. The weather was a little less cold and was dry today. Took the Metro to a bus stop for a trip to Statue Park also known as Memento Park. After the fall of Communism the many statues around Budapest were taken down and are now at this park.

Today was the day I met Carolyn Bnfalvi for a walking tour of the Central Market Hall. I took the tram down the Buda side of the Danube and walked over the green Liberty Bridge. Was a very easy stroll and quite pleasant regardless of the cold rain. Carolyn was a great tour guide and full of information. We were up down and all around the Hall looking at cases of fresh produce including thi

Taking the Water in Budapest

As the title suggest I did take the thermal bath in Budapest today but I took water all day long. Everywhere I walked the rain was with me blowing in my face down my coat and all around. It has turned so cold and wet here that I had to spend the morning looking for a heavier coat. Ironically I bought a Columbia Sportswear coat from Portland. Had to get a new hat and scarf since the new c

After yesterday it was nice to have a quiet day. I checked out of the hotel stored my luggage and went down to check out Wawel Castle. It was an easy walk but the weather is so cold and windy. Looking at the weather online it was a high of 40 and low of 34. I didn't have a lot of time so looked around the courtyards of the castle finding what's called the Lion's Den. It is a small spira

Budapest. I've been here for nearly 12 days so far. I've fall in love with this city. When I made plans to come here I had no idea how lovely it would be. I have an incredible time on the river cruise which took off on the Danube at about 930pm. The Buda Castle Freedom Statue Parliament and other major sights and bridges were illuminated by lights. I am a spa addict. Everywhere I wanna try the

We made it through Romania and came back to Budapest this afternoon. I never thought I'd be so happy to be in Hungary again. Romania was the most interesting country we went to but only because of its challenge and bizarreness. The people in Romania were very nice and helpful but the policemen were a little odd. Again today on the train back we kept getting asked and asked again for tickets or p

It costs about 15 to enter and you can stay as long as you want but get refunded 23 if you stay for less than 2 hours. It took

We made it to Vienna yesterday which was more of a stopping point for us to get to Budapest. It was alright but not too impressive compared to Prague. We arrived in the afternoon and I forced Jessica to go siteseeing with me. It was the worst siteseeing ever. We wandered around not even knowing what we were looking at. But we did eat at a pizza place that had tabasco. It was amazing. This morn

Yesterday the guys decided to go on a hike in the Buda Hills across the river. We took a couple trams over to the Buda side and up the river quite far. We had no idea where we were going but we could see the hills and see where we wanted to get the top. So we started walking in the direction of the hills until we got to the base. Now here instead of continuing along the road Andy thought it w
