Puerto Galera Trip

Its more fun in the Philippines I have proven this when we conducted an educational tour in Puerto Galera one of the most visited tourist spot in Oriental Mindoro. Puerto Galera is only four and a half hours away from Manila. First by bus to the Port of Batangas City then by boat. While we were riding on the boat weve seen dolphins and behind the beaches are the huge and unexplored mountains

ltgt After a good nights sleep we woke refreshed and ready to start our laid back island life . Picture this if you canA small island out in the South China Sea. No towns or villages or roads or even pathways. A collection of 15 bungalows constructed with raffia walls and thatched rooves no glass in the windows and no locks on the flimsy doors. A restaurant and bar to serve the tempo

We left El Nido on the 9.30am mini bus after a big drama when the mini van drove off with our small packs on board before we could stop it. All our documents money cards and passports were in them. Very worrying The man at the bus station assured us that it would return in a few minutes. It did finally returned 15 minutes later packed with a group of tourists theyd picked up on the roadside al

From Boac on Marinduque we caught the ferry back to Lucena and then jumped on a bus to Manila and asked to be dropped off somewhere convenient to catch the bus to Batangas. The driver dropped us at Santa Tomas and we stayed there in a short time roadside hotel which was actually pretty good. Up early at 6am next morning we caught the bus to Batangas. Unfortunately we arrived at Batangas Port early

We knew that navigating the Philippines was going to be a challenge at times. Boats are the main mode of transportation an there are often multiple ways and costs to get from one place to another. Our journey from Sabang to North Pandan was a fine example of this.We set off at about 930am on a private bangka boat to Abra de Ilog which is about 1.5hrs away. The ride in our little bamboo supported

'I didn't know it was a THAT kind of resort when I booked it I promise' says Dave. Ah yes Watling we've all heard that one before I'm wise to your game After a fairly simple four hour bus and boat trip we arrived in the pretty town of Sabang. The town is renowned for it's diving which is obvious from the amount of shops that line the shore. We were booked into one of the better hotels sit

Travelling to stand still

North Pandan is a small privately owned resort island just off the west coast coast of Mindoro in the Philippines. It has a palesand beach that bends and curves as it follows two sides of the island in an unbroken sweep of silica. Studding the sand a few metres above the high water mark are hundreds of coconut palms all leaning with their heads bowed in supplication towards the clear warm water

This photo was taken from Small Tabinay in Puerto Galera. It was 549 in the morning when I decided to join to pull the pukot fish net in semi circle being drag to the shore when I spotted this crab I grab my camera and did some good shot... If you can see she looks like on top of boiling water due to fine bubbles created by a mild wave splash.

A rocky start...

A number of unpleasant surprises awaited me on my journey to one of the most spectacularly beautiful countries on earth. The first was when I realised I only had a 100 HKD note and needed the correct change of 33 Dollars for the bus so I lost the whole lot. The second came when I the bus went to the wrong terminal and I had to withdraw more money to take a taxi to the right one. The saga continu

After a few drinks to steady my nerves of the rocky start to the Philippines I took in my surroundings. This place was paradise huge mountains covered in tropical forests palms and flowers stretched far into the distance and swept down towards the clean and empty white sands.I trawled the beachfront bars and restaurants to find myself some friends. With no luck and sitting alone I was a target
