It is a city and a state of its own. My first comment about this place Is this it. Yes this is it small city and potentially the smallest National capital we've seen.Being the national capital one can ima

For anyone still hanging in there we have a few more pics. After leaving Boondooma Lake with Geoff and Marie we headed to Inskip Point to have some time with Bruce and Jo. It is such a lovely place to camp You can have campfires dogs and as much space as you need and all of this for just 10 a night and only a minutes walk from the beach. The weather was reasonable although we did have a cou

I couldn't come all the way to Australia and not see the Capital. Well to be honest i wish i hadn't There is not much to do or see in Canberra. Canberra was a purposely built capital city. It's rather strange very clinical and a bit like a ghost town. Where were all the peopleNot really much to say about it really. We stayed at a very basic motel but all we really need is a bed i suppose. We a

Seriously where We got off our looooong bus journey through the countryside to be met with not much. Canberra was a city designed on a big drawing board by some pompous architect as THE Australian capital. Result a city of huge wide roads lots of circular roads ugly commercial buildings and the odd nice parliamentary building. Our motel was a little bit of a dive imagine a 60's american m

I drove the J.R. for the first time and wasn't used to the the pedals they were far apart as the steering column was where the brake should be but luckily as the man carried on walking I missed him no accident after all. I knew the exact position of the pedals after that near miss. Drove to Cann River. Decided to take inl

I thought you might want to read what one student wrote of her expereince after visiting the War Memorial in Canberra.Splashes of color lined the names of those who gave their lives red poppies stained by the blood they freely gave. As I stook there in the silence soaking it all in I was amazed. The eternal flame burned brightly

We will spend a couple of days getting the red dust out of the boat and would like to do some fishing around Fraser. On the way home from Weipa we stopped at a caravan park in Mareeba and hosed off the truck camper and boat but when we arrive

We picked up our camper van on a sunny Sydney Sunday morning. We got a new improved model which had a kitchen inside so we could cook whilst still staying snug and cosy in the van. It is much bigger than the last couple of vans we had but didn't cost much more for reasons we aren't too sure about but who's complaining Our first destination was to be the nation's much derided capital Canberra
