I started planning this trip more than nine months before we left. I worked and reworked the itinerary constantly. From the start we were certain that we wanted to visit Berlin Prague and Budapest. It was where we would go in between that took the most consideration. Once I had a fairly concrete plan I spent nearly every night up until our departure date booking and canceling our accommodati

I tried really very hard. I thought maybe I was just struggling with being back to staying at smelly backpackers and having to lug my crap around with me everywhere and feeling like a bit of a sitting duck being on my own... But in hindsight I just didn't love Budapest. Parts of the city are really beautiful and the people are very friendly and helpful. I absolutely loved the castle and some o

Even worse the train to Cologne ran late so instead of having a pressurised 20 mins to get connecting overnight sleeper to Vienna we ended up with only 6mins. The lights were out although they had been working fine at dinner the night before so each table had only a candle. The bread was a half an hour late and the drinks came in stages. It was a bit ridiculous but it wasnrsquot worth complaining about. It was defin
