On the road usually most of the week I have driven home straight 17 hours to be here. Also 14 hours 11 hours 15 hours and from locations such as New Orleans New Jersey Atlanta and Houston. Driving is different from flying as it puts you behind the cockpit. There isnrsquot a security person asking you

This morning I received my flight itinerary for my trip to Asuncion I had checked travel sites to get a basic idea of how many miles and hours I'd be traveling. I had gotten myself used to the idea of my travel taking the better part of a day and it looked like I'd have 3 legs to my trip KC to AtlantaHouston there to Sao PauloBuenos Aires there to Asuncion. Imagine my surprise then w

The most common response when we tell people we are going to Laos is WHY.I think that the question also contains hints to the answer. Laos is off the map for most people. 9 years ago when I was working nights as a custodian at the University of Kansas Library I came across a book about Laos Stalking the Elephant Kings. Oh yeah...Laos... whatever happened to Laos anyway. I remember Laos

It is too hot for me here in Kansas so...I am going back to Costa Rica.I know that sounds backwards but it really is cooler there than it is here. My reason for going is more professional than anything. I have been given an incredible opportunity to do some independent consulting work in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. I have been asked to be the primary designer on what my client hopes

I am actually not packing at this very moment. Everything is basically bought organized and scheduled on time. I am extremely excited about this trip. I have always wanted to go to Central America and it is never too late to learn Spanish. I have had a little problem with getting the correct AntiMalaria medication but after getting a second medical opinion I think I am prepared.

My friend Linda and I head to Budapest on July 21st and will wind our way through Hungary Slovakia and Poland. We'll end up in Berlin where we will study for two weeks. After the final we'll head to London for a few days.I'm worried that my luck will follow me. My car was broken into two weeks ago. Days later I was effectively evicte

Well I'm all packed up and ready to go. I have my suitcases zipped up and my backpack full. I don't know if my spanish skills are ready but I have definitely packed them. I'm worried that I won't be able to speak very well but I'm confident that as time goes by I'll get better.
I am University of Kansas PhD student travelling to Antarctica as part of the Polar Radar for Ice Sheet Measurement PRISM project. However I do not work on radars. I work on the mobile robot that will tow the radar across the ice sheet. I have spent the past three and a half years developing and testing this robot.
