The Islands

We spent 4 nights in Koh Lanta. I have to admit the purse strings were let loose again and we splashed out on a top notch beach side resort. We were provided with a first class beach hut with all mod cons including BBC world news. Julie was adiment she wanted to hire a moped and as there is no other practical way to see the islands it was decided that we should go ahead and get one. I mana

The islands PT1 Koh Samui

Koh Samui is a bit different from what I expected.I expected a less caotic world than the one in the continental Thailand however I was wrong. Its the same. The cities or villages are just the same. the difference is the scenery.Unlike the euroipean style islands Koh Samui does not have roads along the coast from wich you can see the sea. You can almost never see the sea and to do so must get in

Man alive... only 3 days left.... I must have the maximum amount of fun possible for the next 72 hours. We've got one more day in Koh Samui where I will plant my ass in the sand and try to get in as much of everything as possible then I will have my final 2 meals and then I will spend much time and energy trying to fit everything back into my bag this is going to be a challenge. We then head

I have finally reached paradise. This island is beautiful and I would highly recommend it I am on Ko Samui waiting for the boat to take me to Ko Phangan for the Full Moon Party. The last couple days of sitting on the white sandy beaches have been wonderful. I totally prefer this to Bangkok. This island if full of tourists. There are French and Italian people everywhere. This must be a popular

Our time on Ko Samui consisted of beach beach and more beach. Of course there were stressful times too forcing ourselves to get out of bed at midday choosing which Thai beer to drink not being able to have a massage on Sundays as it is the masseuses day off which beach to ride to on our motorbikes etc... Yes motorbikes One day we decided to do some exploring of the island. At this point

The next leg of journey was to Thailand We had to rush through Malaysia so we could be on Ko PhaNgan Island in time for the full moon party on July 19th.We took what is called the jungle train to the border city of Kota Bharu. The 10 hour journey in a near 40 degree Celsius train had few windows that opened properly and fans on the roof that were merely for display. Luckily the ride was ma

After experiencing the hospitality and heat of Issan we were ready to cool off at the beach. So begins our tour of the south. 719 Initially we had planned to meet some friends on Kho Chang...an island off the main land near Bangkok. Due to bad weather we opted to head straight to the southeastern islands. We took a Mercedes charter bus from UbonRatchatani down to Pattaya. The trip was certain

Yup we're back on the beach. After too much touring old horrid war memories we are back to peaceful beautiful Thailand. We were in Bangkok last night and hit up the infamous Khoa San Rd for a farewell bucket. We found a great people watching station and enjoyed the world go by. There were also a group of lady boys at the next table that I couldn't keep my eyes off of... so hard to tell. So we

After saying our 'goodbyes' to Sian we headed to Sai Tai Mai Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal to catch a VIP night bus then boat to Koh Samui. The bus journey took about 9 hours and we arrived at the port by 5.30am. Being suspicious and weary we took our bags off the bus despite it coming on the ferry with us. After a one and a half hour boat trip we attempted to get back on the bus after find

A holiday from our long holidayTo get to Samui to meet up with Cath Gilly and Jack and their mates Chris and Lou we had to brave one of Thailand's tropical downpours on a small long tail boat from Railay. We got soaked as did our bags even though we'd bought some nice plastic ponchos that slowly steamed us like one of those microwave meals It was then just a few hours on to a bus to Surat

After our downpour on PP island we made a quick getaway to another island called Ko Samui. After a few hours drive on a bus from Phuket we landed at Don Sak which was our stop to get the passenger ferry over to the island. It only took about 20 minutes by boat to get there and when we arrived we were met by an avalanche of taxi drivers Instead we politely declined and opted for the cheaper v

Day 20We leave the National Park super early to begin our journey to Koh Samui. The ferry over offers great views of lots of little islands. Our accomodation is fine basic but practically on the beach. We take a wander explore a little then relax on the beach with a cocktail in one hand.At night we go to the busier main beach and eat at the Ark.
