Saturday 15th June 2013Staying over the weekend in the neighbouring city of Johor Bahru had become a sort of a trend for us over the past year after being put off by the high prices we had to pay back home.We decided again on the Mutiara Hotel given its proximity to our amenities in Holiday Plaza. While the property had aged over the years it was still an attractive staycation option within the

No stories from Kuala Lumpur this time as this was our fourth stop in KL and we did all the sightseeing already. So just a few snaps and one video httpyoutu.beKfE4Qaago8Y of a crazy rain and human feet running through a huge puddle most of them taken while we were geocaches hunting in the town.

As we were extremely lacking in good quality sleep on the train given that the lights had been on all night and the train had stopped to pick up passengers several times we checked into PODS Backpackers Hostel near KL Central Train Station and went back to sleep. The Hostel itself was a fairly novel concept where you all sleep in pods raised floors with mattresses and the walls didn39t

When we awoke in our cabin we had an argument with the hotel of the meaning of included buffet breakfast before ordering an American breakfast for free which included a an omelette chicken sausages and beef bacon. We whiled away a lazy morning in the hotel pool which was especially fun given the excessive number of lifesaving rubber rings to play with and and the fact that we were the only people

Another fairly early rise well for us anyway to catch the early bus to Ipoh. A rather comfy large bus took us to the bus station where we grabbed a taxi to the hotel. It turned out the hotel although clean and with good AC was a long way away from the centre of town. The drive to Ipoh was absolutely stunning the huge limestone cliffs either side of the bus covered with palm trees. The Chinese

After an approximate twelve hour flight from Heathrow we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We had visited Kuala Lumpur about four years ago so this was very much a relaxing stopover with the biggest focus being on lying by the pool and warming up in readiness for our return to an Australian summer. We caught a taxi for the almost one hour drive from the airport. We learned on our last visit that purcha
