Leaving downtown Portland was easier than driving in but we still enjoyed a few lsquoscenicrsquo routes before we navigated to the top of Rocky Butte State Park. What fantastic views around Portland. You can see Mt St Helens Mt Adams and Mt Hood around the city.
We knew it was going to take us a couple of days to make it back up to Hood River but it was so cold the next day and we were in ldquolet's get homerdquo mode that we decided to make it as far as we could on 6th. We were glad to be back in Oregon State and the scenery really is beautiful with rugged coast line and evergreen forests. We had not been going long when we saw an Elk stag an

I am not sure if we were really excited to sightsee today or if our motel was super scary but we were up early and moving. I finally got a internet connection and was able to update the blog and send a few emails. After some time surfing we headed to the grocery store to pick up some drinks and snacks. Next we headed back to Hood River and headed to the post office to grab some postcard stamps

I checked all my pockets and wallets again and again and again. I couldnrsquot find anything resembling a purple plastic card that was my livelihood here in a foreign country for the next seven weeks. I took apart my wallet and my daypack but I still couldnrsquot find a thing.
