Fom the Whitsundays we drove up the cost to Cairns and from there took the Osprey V to snorkel on the outer reef. Once again we swathed ourselves in revealing royal blue lycra stinger suits and ventured into the Pacific Ocean. Told we had five hours of snorkel time in two different locations I thought the time on the boat might drag a little but there was so much to see in the water that the time

We went on two reef trips very different. The first was a small boat a refurbished pearllugger built in 1954 with 13 passengers and a crew of 6. The second was a larger faster boat built for reef trips with 120 passengers and a crew of 6.The first trip was on the 28th. The boat goes to the inner reef where both coral and fish are not as impressive. Jershon and I signed up for the introd

As wonderful and exciting as the City of Sydney our trip to Australia was highlighted by our trek up to Queensland and the Port Douglas area to visit the Great Barrier Reef. It is the largest reef system in the world 2900 individual reefs and 900 islands that stretch over 1600 miles and 133000 square miles. The reef is naturally located in the Coral Sea and as we have been reminded numero

As we found out late in our planning process the best way to experience the Great Barrier Reef is to plan liveaboards where you go 24 hours out to sea and live aboard a large hotellike vessel that is fully equipped with all the dive ge

Since leaving Noosa Heads we continued our voyage North stopping at 1770. We anticipated staying there for a couple of days but upon our arrival it was a dismal town with nothing to offer but a beach. We have seen so many beaches on our travels North that it was just not enough of a selling point for us to stay more than a night. The next morning we continued our journey and wound up in a plac
