When I first set foot in Singapore I was shocked. In a continent where most of it's countries are struggling to survive Singapore bucks the trend and appears to be an oasis in the desert. Sparkling highrises savvy metropolitan citizens hightech mass transit yet something doesn't seem quite right it's just too perfect. We finished our last couple days in Ko Tao diving and soaking up the sun.

Arrived Darwin airport and checked in for our Crapstar flight whoops.. Jetstar to Singapore. We had planned on bringing our backpacks on as cabin luggage as Damian had a great plan to hang out in the transit lounge and try and get into QANTAS club so we could shower eat and drink for free and hang out there for our 8 hour layover before heading to Siem Reap.Well that plan backfired. We had to

Singapore was short and sweet and finished far too quickly just like our Singapore Slings in Raffles. The obligatory cocktail in The Long Bar was one of thousands they sell every day but at 13 a glass Andy capped us at one each even the free monkey nuts wouldnrsquot persuade him otherwise.Sir Thomas Raffles not only has the monopoly on cocktails but also the city as we soon discovered on

Now in our daylong layover in Singapore. Arrived 3AM last night after a horrid plane trip. First leg with LA to Tokyo which was really bumpy and Rick had most of his meals ending up on his shirt. Rick calls it the roller coaster ride. Didn't sleep a wink. It was well over 20h with delays after our supposed 1hour layover in Tokyo. We had to deplane and then go back thru security and replane. Why B

We only spent 4 nights there before going into neighbouring Malaysia.
And so we reached our final stop on our 5 month World tour Singapore where we stayed for 4 nights before flying back home. We hadn't thought much about Singapore in advance as it was the very last place we were visiting and we didn't have a guidebook so we weren't really sure what to expect. Once we did eventually get a guidebook at Cairns airport it mentioned that Singapore had previously
