Please ignore the photo captions these computers transpose all the names randomly which is really really annoying.3 blogs in 3 days A record may well be a foot sadly the record is not as good as Man gave names to all the animals by Bob Dylan. Today we left the island of Singapore by monorail curse you transport of the future in search of the Santosa theme park thingy. After forking o

From Shell I think we were both sad to leave Africa but also wondering about a stop over in Singapore when we were so close to home relatively. However when it ended up taking us 20 hours to get from Nairobi to our hotel in Singapore due to delays in Johannesburg we were more than ready to soak up shower time bed time and pool side bar time.Fortunately our hotel in Singapore turned out t

Singapore Revised

If you read my last entry you'll know I'm not Singapore's biggest fan but the next evening Katie and I went for a sightseeing tour and I've had it all explained to me by a local on a Xootr which is like a scooter only a bit more benderish. Me and 8 other scooterwankers one of which was Katie spent the evening pissing off pedestrians worrying patrons of outdoor eating establishments and

Hello from Singapore just a quick warning this blog probably says more about me as a person if you're a psychiatrist than it does about Singapore but I'm going to write anyway because I don't see why Singapore should get any special treatment. The journey here was very good and not in that good for a 5 hour journey kind of way good in a this is better than some of the things I've done so

Part III Lost ...

It was warm and humid just like the previous dayshellipI reluctantly got up from bed took a bath and sluggishly ate my breakfast. Though I woke up feeling a little bit down I definitely donrsquot want to spend my last day moping around. I spent most of the morning lounging at the reception area thinking of which places I could still manage to visit before my flight later in the evening. I

Singapore Home Is Where The Heart Is

On a cold winter night we flew in from Perth Australia to Singapore via Jetstar Airways. It was our first time to fly Jetstar and we were curious on how it was going to be. Aside from the 1hour flight delay the trip was comfortable and uneventful. You do have to pay for everything aboard including food there was one complimentary bottle of water though entertainment and blanketscomfor

24hrs in Singapore

I landed in Singapore at 6pm checked into my hostel and headed straight to the zoo to go on the night safari. Its a lovely set up apart from the road and pathed trail it is quite jungle like. You ride on a buggy with a guide telling you all about the animals. Theres a spot you get off and wander around to see the big cats and fruit bats. The highlight is the creatures of the night show unfortu

Singapore is Perfect..... too perfect....

When I first set foot in Singapore I was shocked. In a continent where most of it's countries are struggling to survive Singapore bucks the trend and appears to be an oasis in the desert. Sparkling highrises savvy metropolitan citizens hightech mass transit yet something doesn't seem quite right it's just too perfect. We finished our last couple days in Ko Tao diving and soaking up the sun.

Arrived Darwin airport and checked in for our Crapstar flight whoops.. Jetstar to Singapore. We had planned on bringing our backpacks on as cabin luggage as Damian had a great plan to hang out in the transit lounge and try and get into QANTAS club so we could shower eat and drink for free and hang out there for our 8 hour layover before heading to Siem Reap.Well that plan backfired.
Singapore was short and sweet and finished far too quickly just like our Singapore Slings in Raffles. The obligatory cocktail in The Long Bar was one of thousands they sell every day but at 13 a glass Andy capped us at one each even the free monkey nuts wouldnrsquot persuade him otherwise.Sir Thomas Raffles not only has the monopoly on cocktails but also the city as we soon discovered on

Now in our daylong layover in Singapore. Arrived 3AM last night after a horrid plane trip. First leg with LA to Tokyo which was really bumpy and Rick had most of his meals ending up on his shirt. Rick calls it the roller coaster ride. Didn't sleep a wink. It was well over 20h with delays after our supposed 1hour layover in Tokyo. We had to deplane and then go back thru security and replane. Why B

We have a few hours until our flight so there is time for one final blog entry...I thouroughly enjoyed our time albeit a bit sleep deprived in Santiago and Barcelona after finishing our walk.
