Life on the farm

Wow it's been awhile. We've been biking almost every day since Florence in some pretty remote parts of Tuscany so it's been hard to find time to write. Biking through Tuscany has been an interesting experience. On one hand the food is amazing and everywhere you look there's olive trees and fields of vineyards turning yellow and orange. But on the other hand those rolling hills of Tuscany are not

Meat the mountains and more biking

The last week has been so crazy Kuba and I have been biking almost every day. After Ferrara we went to Bologna which was nice but pretty uneventful. Besides all the meat So much meat Their speciality is ham and we spared no little piggies. We also visited a place that strangely reminded me of an Italian Horseshoe. This bar has served only alcohol no water or food people brought their own

Don't be fooled by the wine prices at the Duty Free shop at the Rome FCO airport. I was. Then I got home and found the same wines cheaper in my local wine stores. They also push less than 4 or 5star wines. A price of 30 euros usually means you can find it for 30 at home.LOVE Italy but it's become very expensive. Jeans at a Levi's store 200.
Climbing the Leaning Tower

For some reason I had it in my head that the leaning tower of Pisa was in the middle of a small square. Was I ever wrong It's actually in the middle of a LARGE and very green square which it shares with a church a baptistry an artistic cemetary and a whole host of street vendors.I also didn't know that you can actually climb the tower for 15 euro mind you. I'm so glad I did it though The vie

I arrived in Pisa today and I must say it is pretty nice here. Their is not much to do here but its real laided back and easy going. I was in Rome last night and I once again drank way to many beers. Then a girl from england kept buying me this weird shot with bailys some mint liqour and chocalte liqour. It was good but not so good when I woke up this morning. I felt like I died and reincar

Day Trip Pisa

I always find it fasinating to learn how different people experience the world because each person lives such different realities kind of like the blid men and the elephant. On the train ride to Pisa I sat with 2 girls from Sweden. They were backpacking across Europe as a high school graduation gift to themselves and to avoid the question What are you going to do with the rest of youre life. Af

Ugh. Today was freaking nightmarish. First I get harassed on the train and then on the way home our train is over two hours late. BUT I saw the leaning tower of Pisa today And ate three cups of gelato... mint fruit roll up and chocolate. Amazing. SO... my train incident. Luckily I was traveling with Evelyn from Ireland at the time so I wasnt alone. We were sitting on the train about halfway

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

After breakfast this morning we walked out the square near our apartment and bought tickets for the bus from the bar on the corner odd how things work here. The bus takes a brief trip through town before heading up to the train station. We arrived at the station shortly before the next train to Pisa but we ended up behind some slow people at the ticket machine and missed that first train. Fort

It was less than 1km from lsquoTorre Pendentersquo the Leaning Tower so we decided to walk there that afternoon after lunch. The Leaning Tower was definitely a sight to see and not only because of itrsquos less than vertical stature. The Piazza del Duomo a

Ciao everyoneOk so I know I am severely falling behind on my blogs. Lets not forget that my dear sister did not have to deal with classes homework and exams when she was being so diligent with hers But I don't really have a good excuse. I am going to buckle down and get each blog for my winter break in at LEAST before I leave for spring break along with a couple others I owe you So lets

Hello all The start of my winter break began with Pisa. Ben and I along with two other IAU students boarded a bus to PisaFlorence at 10pm Thursday night Feb. 26th. The bus trip lasted all night and we arrived in Pisa at 645am. Not knowing where we were going Ben and I debated between walking and riding the bus. In the end we got bus tickets but due to mass confusion with the directio

Before heading back to Rome from an exciting weekend we decided to take an hour train to a little town known as Pisa. Again like my first trip to Pisa two years earlier it was raining. Leaving the train station we hiked from one extreme side of the city where the train station was to the other extreme where Pisa and all the sights were. We walked 20 mins to reach the other side to give you an

I went to Pisa for the day with my friend Christina and her Undergrad program from when she studied in Florence. It was fun to spend the day somewhere else and go to a place that's close to Florence and a new place in Italy. Pisa is pretty and very similiar looking to Florence. It's about the same size and only around 4560 minutes away by train. It was also a beautiful sunny day that was around
