It was snowing really heavily in the village yesterday which was the coolest thing ever i felt like a three year old kid when you first see snow. But today it has completely cleared up. The Matterhorn is closed because of the strong winds on the the peak around 46kph. So because of the visibilty I went hiking with two other Australians Matt and Andrew also staying at the Matterhorn Hostel. We

The Matterhorn is still closed. The wind isnt as strong as yesterday but the temperature at the peak is minus fifteen degrees. Instead of going to Interlaken I am going to stay here until I am able to snowboard this stupid mountain. The train to Interlaken is a budget crunching 80Franks so its probably a good idea i dont go. I also found out that with Eurail one country isnt one day you can go a

To be fair I only visited for a few hours and had a really horrible day. My Mom and I had one of our motherdaughter blowups and I decided to go to Zermatt alone. I really wish we both weren't so stubborn sometimesAnywho my Mom and I had the FlexiSaver Swiss rail pass which required that both travelers travel together at all times. A short boat trip to visit the island of Isola Bella a magnificently located palace and garden island. Lunch on the island before a visit of the palace where both Napolean and Mussolini had been famous visitors. Then back into Switzerland and up thro

I caught the 856 bus so a fairly sociable time After arriving in Zermatt at about 1230 I went straight to the campsite to set my tent up and leave my things there. Snow on the mountains skiing all year long and 90 hotels and electric taxis and buses. The day was filled with a mountain ride to the 3100 metre point of a mountain then a 6 hour walk down back to the village.
We are in Zermatt a ski resort at the base of The Matterhorn. We took a train up here through steep mountains and tunnels to arrive in the snow. It is like being in a Christmas card scene. When the sun came out the next day we were able to see the Matterhorn a mighty site. Mark had a perfect first day snowboarding fresh snow and plenty of sunshine. Later he took me in the cable car to the base
