Day 11 I can39t believe how fast the time has passed in one week I will be on my way home. Today we headed south and stopped in a picturesque little village called Pitlochry. It39s a small theater town with the usual touristy shops. There is also a salmon ladder here that actually counts the number of salmon that swim up the ladder. This area is known for its salmon fishing permits are re

I was lucky enough to score a fascinating work trip to audit part of Constellation Brands up in Scotland. I went up the weekend before I had to start work in order to get in a quick trip to the Edinburgh Castle and onto what I really wanted to see in Scotland St. Andrewsand the famous Old Course. It was a typically bleak March day in Scotland and we drove through lots of green rolling hills on ou

Andrew and I booked a private day tour through Mini Tours Scotland. I wanted to get a chance to see more of Scotland than Edinburgh but I didn39t want to rent a car because it is expensive and I didn39t want to have to stress about driving in a foreign country on the other side of the road. A tour was the perfect solutionAfter breakfast Craig picked us up in his van. We drove into the cou

Today we all got up early and packed a picnic. We set out in the car and headed to Dollar to visit Castle Campbell which is set high up in the forest of Dollar Glen. We parked and walked to the amazing castle. The castle was built over time with parts being added by new owners. The oldest part is called the castle gloom which is a high tower with four floors and a roof walk this was built in 1430

Were in a campground near Whitby 41412 looking out over the North York Moors National Park in northern England. When we were enjoying the gorgeous warm weather in late March the locals warned us that this same weather pattern happened las year and that was IT for the summer. June and July were cold and rainy. Oh no we thought it cant get that cold. Well guess what it has and is an

Saint Andrews is a small town on the west coast about two hours from Edinburgh by bus. We don39t know for sure but we guessed it39s about the size of Salem MA. It is known as the birthplace of golf whether or not this is true I don39t know but there was a fairly large golf course and several golf shops around town and home of the oldest University in Scotland which seems to have i

So who was St. Fillan I asked this question as I tried to peer through the bars and crossshaped metal adornment that blocked the opening of his cave. My host Richard and I had been wandering through the tiny and beautiful coastal village of Pittenweem Scotland when we happened upon this famous at least to Scots and the religious site. According to no less an authority tha

Sept 1511

The day started off sunny and pretty cool. Today we travelled to St. Andrews and then to Edinburgh. At St Andrews we learned that the Scots put up St. Andrews church to show the cardinals in England that they were capable of having their own church separate from England. The church supposedly had some bones from one of the disciples St. Andrew and in the day people would go on pilgrimages ju

Iconic aircraft from the cold war warrior Vulcan to stateoftheart Typhoons roared over Fife in Scotland on Saturday at the Leuchars Airshow. This year39s event was a celebration of old and new to mark 100 years of the RAF at Leuchars. This was my first visit to the airshow and I hope the closure of the airforce base and the movement of all operations to RAF Lossiemouth in 2013 under gov
