After a couple of days of independent activities we decided to book a couple of tour activities. We did some research and decided on the Los Canones Canopy tour.
Yesterday's trip to the volcano was great. We left the hostel at 330 and drove 20 minutes to a hiking point. Our tour guide was a local who lived close to the town where the 1968 eruption of the volcano shoked everyone because it had been dormant for 500 years and they all thought it was a mountain. He had TONS of pictures to show how much the volcano and town of La Fortuna has changed in the las

Volcano Trail Day 15 La Fortuna Costa RicaWe left Monteverde for La Fortuna. After an hour of driving we arrived at Arenal Lake. This is a manmade lake formed by a hydroelectric damplant. It was a quick 20 min boat ride across to the other side and the town of La Fortuna. La Fortuna is at the base of the very active Arenal Volcano. It is also a huge tourist town. Gringos are everywhere.
