In all good faith and with reasonable cheerfulness three delightful persons and myself have united intention effort and resources to make a three month or longer spiritual sojourn to Europe specifically Spain and ultimately Portugal. In my many years of study and subsequent years of service none I think is as memorable as now. My companions are no longer students or clients but frien

My one task before leaving Albuquerque this morning was to go to FedEx and pick up some equipment I called and had it held for 9am pu. Of course it was put on the truck for delivery So started the hunt for the FedEx truck which I found and intercepted my package. I returned home and quickly stuffed it into my carefully packed bags and reweighed still under 50 lbs I have everything I need to

This June the Herrold and Rochester families embarked on an intrepid journey to look for America and all thatbraving rising oil prices for a nod to our shared manifest destiny. Yes they decided to drive the billionodd miles to the Grand Canyon stopping off at choice tourist locations along the way with a UHAUL trailer and a set of walkietalkies.
I made my escape from the Anasazi Inn and tore off westwards at my usual leisurely pace heading for Page Arizona.Eventually arriving there I went to my hotel a day earlier than I had pre booked to be there on the internet before the trip.It turned out that I needed to contact the business that I had booked it through on the net so that they could tell the hotel that I was going to be there a day

After arriving back at my hostel following the Cirque de Soleil show I was looking forward to just passing out in bed knowing the my alarm was set for 5.15am. Unfortunately when I arrived I realised that new people had moved into the room one of whom was sleeping in the bunk above me. However the bed hadn't been made. Therefore they would have to make it when they returned. It was already

After the desert of California we emerged from the desert to an illusion of nondesert that was in reality a desert superimposed over what had been less than a hundred years ago desert in the normal and arid and sandy sense of the word. I'm going to write about my impressions of Phoenix Arizona and if you're a fan of the city you may not want to read. I'll start with a few general impres

After a yummy French toast breakfast we headed to the train depot for our ride to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon Railway Resort is FABULOUS and I highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit. It has a hotel pet kennel the best RV park Irsquove ever seen and five star service. At the train depot we were treated to a shootout by the Coldwater Creek gang. During the show the audience w

After a SWELTERING night on Lake Mead we hit the road again. It was over 100 degrees all night and we took a vote a dry heat is STILL heat. The treat was waking up the next morning to the view of the lake. The orangebrown mountains plunging straight down into the bluegreen lake with a band of white dividing the two was a beautiful sight. The lake is 55 feet below its normal level due to a

I made a good start from Chinle this morning and headed for Monument Valley just seems one of those places that if you are in the area you just need to go to.The drive there was through some pretty barren landscape. All this part of Arizona is made up of Indian reservations mainly Navajo but some Hopi in the middle of it all.You can see why the early government gave this land as reservations it

Wanting to slow the pace down a bit now that I am now out west instead of taking the interstate to Arizona I used highway 60 which starts at Sorocco and heads west over the main divide. At the highest point the road was about 7300ft high but it didnrsquot seem like that as there no towering mountains aroun

Huge amounts of driving over the last few days but it has been really rewarding. Up to 2500 miles now in 12 days of driving. After the relative cool temperatures of Zion 90's we moved onto Monument Valley which was another great place to be but incredibly hot100. Not much in the way of horticultural delight but the scenery was brilliant as expected. Stayed in campsite for a couple of nights

He was going to need it because we were planning on making the trip all the way to the Grand Canyon today without stopping.
