That was also our first real trip only with the van but as we were in a National Park we couldn39t sleep wherever we wanted so we had to sleep in a camping and obviously pay the night. On the first day we went to Daintree where we were told we could see many

Deel 16

Thanks for the note I appreciate that I was out bowling.

Toch n

The Bloomfield Track was a briliant scenic drive from Cooktown to Cape Tribulation. It is a 4x4 track and a great short cut. It was well graded but very very steep and windy. Lots of things to stop and look at on the way. A very big crocodile sunning itself on the bank of the Daintree River sorry no photo couldn39t stop.
Glorious morning in Port Douglas followed by the Daintree and Cape Tribulation

The drive from Cairns to Port Douglas ranks as one of the great drives of Australia. Once you escape the roundabouts of Cairns the road turns into this winding coast hugging scenic beauty. Every so often you get a visage of an idyllic beach that only hippies and surfies dare to camp along. Would love to come back here with a convertible Grande Tourer vehicle to wind through the curves and dri

Hello again We stayed in Cape Tribulation which is where the jungle is for two nights. We were originally supposed to be staying in tents in Jungle Lodge but 39unfortunately39 these were closed for the season so we ended up being upgraded to lodges which we were quite happy about. The resort had a pool restaurant and shop with other lodges and hotels nearby. This was supposed to be an a

Well once again we woke up to rain but we weren't going to let that stop us. We piled into the car and headed on our way further north. We encountered some water on the road from all the rain in the area and hoped it wasn't a sign to come that the roads were flooded and we'd have to turn around. We continued on our way and by the time we got to the ferry terminal where you have to take a barge fe

TRIALS IN CAPE TRIBULATION

Our main aim for the day was to get to Cape Tribulation. We made a whistle stop tour of some towns on the way and we were soon boarding the cable ferry. There were signs warning us of recent Croc sightings so were pleased that we were not aloud to get out of the van. Reaching the other side we were suddenly surrounded by rainforest. We were on a narrow and winding road driving up and down hills w

When Captain Cook sailed by this stretch of coastline in 1770 he named it Cape Tribulation looking at it from a non seafaring perspective in all it's tranquil beauty it's the last name you'd give it. Far more jubilation than tribulation. To be fair to Captain Cook he had sailed thousands of miles around the globe to reach a perilously rocky shoreline with no safe harbours and was greeted by very

We left Cyril and Kasia and did a detour through some beautifully green countryside long straight roads with little traffic. Farms set in valleys cows cultivated fields small towns and villages.
