So what have I doneSince being home I've been working at this house for Steve and Melissa from my mom's office the expeditionary studies department of SUNY Plattsburgh. One of the students from the department has been working with them and helped me get this work so I wouldn't be stuffed in the back office of some company doing the most senseless work possible. I've learned how to run electri

Hi everyoneI'm just ducking into the public library to give you all a shout out from Sarnac Lake Village NY. The bugs weren't so bad but there was a tough little portage and up stream paddle along the Raquette River Some very low class II rapids mostly a walk and less of a paddle. Brett and I are doing well and actually have seen some sweet wild life. There was a very curious pine martin that

Day 18Today was a flashback day to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. We started off our day walking the downtown and the shops. There were the usual tourist trap shops and then there were a few unique shops that we really enjoyed. There was an Olympics spirit shop with a bunch of USA wear as well as Beijing wear. I shopped while Matt watched a highlight video on the 1980 Hockey team.Do

So graduation is the next step in this summer's travels. I know I didn't have to go anywhere for it but still it changes who I am.I'm sick for the 3 days between graduation and my trip to Europe. I'm really excited for this trip even though half of it is for a class. My family is excited to see me and that makes me happy. Alright a few pictures and then I have to keep packing.

On Thursday I headed to Lake Placid to see the Division III Menrsquos College Hockey Frozen Four and spend time with some college friends. It isnrsquot my first trip up to LP so I was looking forward to a fun and interesting weekend. Because I went to college in central NY the cold north has always felt like home to me and as I drove up the Northway I could feel myself relax measurably.

My heart was still racing from yesterday and I couldnrsquot keep my mind off of it. I could still vividly see the billions of cars in our way and how the car flew into the air like it was a movie on my eyelids and when ever I closed my eyes I could see it. When I got off the plane I met with James Dalesworth Daversquos son. He was very much like his father and was a police officer. James w

Day 60 Obfuscator writes We had been forewarned that we would have rain all day and this was indeed borne out by subsequent events. Vowing not to have a hideously boring driving day we decided to do our best to get in position for the following day while still seeing some of the sights of upstate New York. After examination of our atlas we found that there were a number of battlefields a

We left Wash D.C. and headed West to Indiana for a quick visit with Tom's daughter Kathy and our 2 grand daughters. Since you all ask we can say our little miracle child Megan and her sister Taylor are doing great. Then off to the Adirondacks where we had no cell phone because Tom lost it in a 2 hour tubing trip that took 5 hours. The water wasn't moving the sun went down and I got shaky cold.

Wednesday August 22nd 2007. Darrin called me at 530am from his island campsite on Lake Champlain. The weather was clear and calm so he figured the second leg a shorter and more protected route than the first leg would be smooth and enjoyable. As it turned out he did encounter a windy stretch with twofoot chop. It was just enough to keep him agile but not enough to slow him down too much.

Tuesday August 21st 2007. Darrin completed the first leg of his Lake Champlain crossing on this day. He crossed a section approximately three miles wide and was felt fortunate to find water like glass. The exception was some paddlelikehell three to four foot waves when he crossed three different wake lines from large ferries. Wakes aside this was LUCKY.
