July 29 and we have been on the road for almost 6 months Australia is a very big place indeed We set off early from Rainbow Beach so we could get to Tin Can Bay in time for the 8 orsquoclock dolphin feeding. Sounds touristy doesnrsquot it but actually it was very low key. Mystique came in first then her daughter Harmony about half an hour later. Itrsquos a good place to see the dolp

YEPPOONKINKA BEACHThe trip to Yeppoon was about 360 km. We seem to be improving in our packup times because we were on the road by 8.00am and in the park set up for lunch by about 1.30pm. The trip takes you almost to Rockhampton and then out to the coast for roughly 45km. The park was small and just ok but we were put in the middle of the permanents.
After leaving Noosa for the last time we had to make some miles so it was just an afternoon of driving but through stunning scenery. We headed for Rainbow Beach and it was dark by the time we arrived but we had read that there was a great NP camping area therefore cheap right on Inskip Point in the sand dunes. It was the closet mainland point to Fraser Island and the closet Stu would go to

After our greyhound bus journey we arrived in the small town of 1770. It had been recommended to us by our wee pal B who had stayed there previously and loved it.Our hostel this time was called Southern Cross and it was in the middle of the country side surrounded by lots of land and it's very own lake. There were horses roaming around freely and the owners two dogs Summer and Scooby. We love

We left Rainbow Beach and motored on up the coast arriving at a very laid back and thankfully rainfree little coastal hamlet with the bizarre name of 'Town of 1770' a bit north of Bundaberg.Apparently it was renamed in 1936 in honour of James Cook's landing there on 24th May 1770 on 'Bustard Beach' so named by Cook after he and his crew feasted on a Bustard caught there Steve had a history

Jetted off to Oz to visit the parents and decided to get married while we were out there. Rod fancied the Town of 1770 just because he wanted to have number instead of a name in the location on the wedding certificate. Stayed in a balinese style house which had absolutely fantastic views and the wedding was very relaxed as it was only us the celebrant her husband and friend who were our witne

It was a little overcast when we was sat outisde doing our journals when a bus came for the free tour that goes every day at 11am. We figured Why not And so jumped on the bus. There was about 35 of us that went out and it was fun. The choppers go upto 80km which is 50mph and I managed to hit that so I was pretty happy with myself. The last time didn't go too great seeing as It left me scarred for life but I was keen to give it a go and try improve my opinion of the sport this time around. I decided to do it here in 1770 simply because it was diert cheap 16.50 for a 3 hour Surf Lesson so I couldnt resist at that price.
We had heard quite a lot of backpackers rave on about a town called 1770 and decided quite early on that we definately wanted to visit this place. It was a 8 hour bus ride from a town called Mackay which we visited after Airlie Beach but there was not much there in Mackay worth writing about. We booked a night bus to take us to 1770 to save on hostel accomodation and were not picked up until 3am

After leaving Airlie Beach we made our way down to Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 which we had wanted to check out the last time we were in Oz but never quite made it up that far. They are both cool little off the beaten track towns that by the sounds of it may not stay that way for to much longer with development heading it's way... The Town of 1770 was Captain Cook's first landing spot in Q

A trip of about 120 Km today to 1770. The unusual name is related to the year that Captain James Cook first set foot in Queensland May 24 1770. Stopped briefly at Miriam Vale on the way here. Walked to the beach this afternoon a pleasant stroll of 900 m through the bush.

This is the spot where the famous explorer Captain James Cook sailed into Bustard Bay back in 1770. As far as i know it's not even really a town but a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. Again like most places in Australia it's really really beautiful. We arriv
