We arose early in excited anticipation of getting home to our wives and families. If a teleporting device was available we would make use of it with cost being no object we would have to purchase lithium crystals. But there isn't.We had a walkabout in moab and were able to leave in the early afternoon. Lively debates ensued as to the route home but we heard there was some possibility of

Yesterday we went on a tour of the Filer area. The Hooleys are great tour guides I must admit. We went and hiked around a local rock formation. Next we saw a local alligator and fish farm. The alligators were huge I believe they grow them until they are pretty large then sell the meat at a local restaurant. We also visited a local spring and fish hatchery. We were able to walk around and

Today started out as another cold day of riding nothing new though looking at the trend this last week. I did not hit any rain today which was a nice change. The scenery was very nice today especially around the Salt Lake City area. Going up toward Idaho things get a little more sparse and barren but it is still a decent drive. It was nearly all interstate today as I needed to make some g

Getting to the Starting Line

This is the most suspenseful part of any journey getting to the beginning. Somehow airplanes don't feel like travel it's more like a time machine that whisks me through time and space. I can never get my head around time zone changes and distances when I'm in an airplane. I'll feel much more comfortable when I'm on the ground in Marrakech and I can start my journey by land. This blog is mostly

Traveling away from 'home' is so seemingly surreal that I don't believe it to have settled in quite yet. Rest stops are no stranger the freeway has seen me before. The impact of what we have started is there but as much as faith is the evidence of the unseen I believe the first notes played to passing city folk will bring a solid punch to the gut and mind. After a last meal in Boise to send o

Last weekend we did a road trip to Boise Idaho where Jason grew up and I lived for the bulk of my twenties. I have always had mixed feelings about going to Boise since moving away in 2003 but this time I fell a little bit back in love with it again. Even though it was just as cold as Seattle and rainy there is something about Boise that tugs at my heart.Last weekend we spent time with Jaso

Our first leg of the trip is complete. Tony and I set out this morning from Seattle on a beautiful day the 1st day of Spring. We headed over Snoqualmie Pass and said goodbye to the snow and ski area. Then we drove southeast for awhile until we arrived in Oregon. Most of the drive today was in Oregon and we saw some beautiful and desolate land there. Much of our trip was over the original Oreg

I had an amazing time sleeping in my tent in a warm Arizona winter 65 degrees is heaven compared to the average at work of 20 degrees during the day.I had a few coworkers to keep me company at Winter Count but I wouldn't have been lonely had they not been there.
Obfuscator writes 110 Miles of dirt and gravel roads. I can see why prior to the Interstate system it took people forever to get anywhere in this country. Even with tires and cars that are far more dependable and safe you can only drive so fast on roads like that particularly when these roads are at 16 grade and curve sharply to hug cliff faces.
Oh the drive through eastern OR is just as we had remembered it...sagebrush covered hills. That sums it up. We did learn from our mistakes on Day 1 and ate in a city park in Hines we thought we were in Burns. Did the driver switch and forged ahead to Meredian just outside Boise. Once there we resumed a friendship with the Slocums that began at COP in Stockton. Their daughter Cheryl Rebecca

We arrived in Boise late last night. The aunt had beds ready and we crashed out. The drive was a long one we caught the 720 ferry out of Bremerton Seattle at 820 and we were on the road. The ferry gave us and specifically Little Z a nice wake up time to run around before sitting in the truck for hours. Kennewick was the lunch stop. Everyone always makes a weird face when I mentioned I lived there. I really donrsquot have much of an opinion of it as I was very young I just have very vague childhood memories.
