So yesterday I went to work at the Post Office. I hadn't been there since the earthquake happened in China. Seriously all morning people were asking if I was still planning to go if flights were cancelled if it was going to affect the Olympics if I knew anyone in the quake etc. Some more informed collegues were comparing the Burma hurricaine and the China earthquake ... and by some I me

Hi there folks. Well it's almost 2AM in Beijing and my body just decided to realize it's in China so I'm wide awake and thought I would fill you in on our trevails in the process of getting here. Thankfully we stayed in KC the night before the trip so we didn't have to tack on an additional few hours to an already long trip. We had some issues with the weight limits for bags in going through

We thought a bit of a female perspective might be a good idea so I took the camera with me for one of my times walking around Wuhan getting lost and finding new and interesting places. I did however begin my trek on the bus. I started my morning at 9 am by getting on our normal bus the 586. I hopped off at the wonderful little park with the windmill that was in earlier entries. This left me w

A cyclone struck a wide low land area in Burma. More than 100000 corpses many still lay lying rotting in drowned fields. Stench and terror in the air aid slow to come but coming indeed. A frantic mother fear terror saddness wretched tears in eyes holds her young daughter all amidst the quiet deathly scene. A figment of reality. Reality that means it IS it IS happening right no

Zigong Dinosaur MuseumYou may not know this about me but I was an archaeology major in college. Before any archaeologists or palentologsts get bent out of shape I know that dinosaurs are not archaeology. I only wanted to say that I love history and especially dig sites. When I went to Chengdu in 2006 I wanted to stop at the Zigong Dinosaur museum. It's one of the three largest dinosaur museum

Leshan Giant BuddhaI have been dreaming of visiting the Leshan Giant Buddha for many years. Finally in 2006 I got my chance. I took a tour to Chengdu with China Odyssey Tours. It was wonderful I didn't know it but the Leshan Giant Buddha is actually an entire park like area. It is located near Leshan City which is near Chengdu City. The Giant statue is not actually of The Buddha but of Maitrey

Chengdu teahousesWhen I took a trip to Chengdu one of the things I planned to do was visit one of Chengdu's tea houses. I am a lover of Chinese tea and living in Guilin we don't have many traditional tea houses and so I wanted to check out what a real traditional tea house was like. There are a lot of teahouses scattered throughout Chengdu. I think I'd like to live there just to attempt to try

Saturday 3rd May I stayed up the night before till around 430 typing my diary and packing my bags. We had set two alarms so that we would wake up and not miss our bus that was leaving at 730. We had to be at there at 700 to make sure it wouldnrsquot leave with out us. A guy from our hotel came and knocked on our door at 715 to tell us that we had to be there now. This was not a good sign.

What I thought was a simple Beijing rumbling has turned into the most devastating natural disaster China has experienced in recent decades. I was sitting at my desk willing myself to crack open my books and begin studying when I experienced a sudden onslaught of vertigo. I looked up at the ceiling and noticed my hanging lights noticeably swinging back and forth. When I stood up to get a better

So as you've probably heard there has been a disastrous earthquake in the Sichuan province of China. It's really a tragedy what's happened. I've been getting a lot of emails these last few days to make sure that I'm OK. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am 100 fine. I am very far from the epicenter of the earthquake. Here in Nanjing it was just a small tremor. My friends who live
