We woke up in the morning and packed up our camp after multiple days in the same campground in Jasper NP. We did a canyon hike in Maligne canyone and then drove the entire icefield parkway down into Lake Louise in Banff NP. On the way to Maligne canyon we passed multiple elk and sheep but still no bear sitings grizzleys or black bears. The rivers are shallow so we were expecting to see bea

Imagine how your body would feel flying from 37 degree 99 humidity straight into fresh powder and gusty alpine winds...... Imagine and you'll have a slight idea as to the full body shock we've just experienced. Arriving to a Canadian summer without beanies gloves snowshoes and ski jackets was our first mistake. Not hiring a car was our second. Ah well we made it to Lake Louise and spent 2 da

The Hottest 100 was playing all day and they shipped in Australian beer for us. Given 80 of the staff are Australian I guess it makes sense. There was a DJ in the common area of Chucktown I think the music was mainly Australian but he seemed to focus on vo

Well Christmas and New Years in Canada has come and gone but we managed to survive a week of crazyness. Why a week that is because everyone likes to celebrate Christmas and New Years in the timezone of their own country. Then the next 24hrs after each day is about working out the aftermath and what an aftermath that is.Probably best to start at the beginningA massive Christmas dinner was org

The silver Greyhound slowly pulled back onto the icy highway. It was 9.30 at night dark and snowing. I was still wearing the same jumper that I put on 3hrs earlier at Calgary and glad that I had my new snow jacket in hand. I slung my pack over my shoulder and made my way across the open snow covered car park floodlit just enough so that I could make out a few people stumbling about obviously on

As I have said before I get uncomfortable with being a tourist. I try to be more of a traveler. I prefer to experience things places and people rather than merely see them. But while in the Rockies we were definitely well and truly 100 percent the tourists. Today we drove to Lake Louise via the Bow Valley stopping via Johnston Canyon and checking out Morraine Lake on the way home. Every one o
