Hi allWe are now back at Carnarvon after spending 10 days at very pretty and under rated Pt Quobba 80kms nw of Carnarvon. We camped just south of the blowhole at a free park beside a white sand ocean beach. It reminded us of Baylys Beach going to bed listening to the surf pounding in. There is a lagoon nearby behind a coral island and reef that has very good fish and coral so we snorkelled

Hi allWe arrived at Carnarvon Big 4 Caravan Park on Sunday to a special welcome. We'd sent our Big 4 passport to Melbourne a month ago as we'd qualified for a special reward as we had 50 different camping ground stamps. We had arranged for it to be mailed back to us at Carnarvon. We were the first to get 50 different stamps and expected a T shirt but we also got a 150 fuel voucher flowers and

Hi thanks for following our adventures. We have been home for 5 days and now have time to finalise the last days of our trip. After Pannawonnica we had planned to visit Onslow but the bug to now be home had bitten and we instead headed for Carnarvon. Carnarvon is a place Judy visited for work several years ago and we have only ever driven through it so Rags thought it would lovely to spend our las

One of the sights that we are now getting used to is the various road kill that litters the highway. The majority is probably done by the roadtrains as when they are thundering down they donrsquot really have time to stop when animals such as a kangaroo joey sheep wallaby or dingo the list goes on go running or jumping out in front. It still turns my stomach thinking about all the dead anima

Fri 21st of August 2009 Denham and Monkey Mia to CarnarvonIt had rained heavily overnight and today persisted into the morning that same warm fairly unobtrusive stuff that makes one want to push on. Took the 20km ride over to Monkey Mia that is on the other side of the Peron Peninsula from Denham and where the sea life can be seen from the shore. I was not disappointed as a small group of dolphin

From warm and sunny Carnarvon

We enjoyed our time in Kalbarri. We took some great drives around the red cliffs where the limestone coast made similar formations to the Great Ocean Road. There is a walk from one end to the other but we mostly drove and walked to the cliff edge. We also went to a sea horse farm where sea horses were bred to go to aquariums. It is another area for wildflowers but it's still a bit early to see a

Well well well...where do i start....... From Kalbarri we went straight to Monkey Mia and stayed over night there at a beach then set off to see the dolphins in the morning. When we got there which was about 9 we were told that the dolphins had allready visited twice but they usually do 3 so they were hoping for 1 more. We waited and waited and waited for about another 3 hrs and then finally there

On the road outta Shark Bay Sandy and I stopped at the Shark Bay Ocean Park. Was well worth the stop as we learnt so much about types of fish turtles sting rays and SHARKS. The tour guy was young and hot and very very informative and very much into his job which made the experience awesome. We learnt about the fins on the back of sharks and how to distinguish a man eater to a non man eater.
We went into Cape Range National Park. My Dad spotted an eaglersquos nest on the top of a radio tower. I took a photo of it. After Cape Range we went to Coral Bay. We fed the fish on two different days. The fish were snapper and they are very big about half a metre long. You are not allowed to touch them because they have a special coating to protect them from diseases. They swam through

When we got up this morning at the blowholes camping area it was blowing a gale from the south but we were pretty well sheltered from the sand blowing around. So we packed up and were heading for monkey mia or Denham for our next stop. We had 70 krsquos to go to get the Carnarvon and it was a real struggle in 4th gear and unable to get any speed up not over 80kmh the fuel was quickly

We left Exmouth around 9am and drove south down the coast to have a look at Coral Bay and have lunch. There is not much there only 1 caravan park and a few tourist shops garage and pub. So it was a good decision not to stay there. So onto point Quobba or the blowholes camp area 436.
