Just a quick blog this time to tell the story about my trip south to Benaulim....Benaulim is another village close to the beach a little south of Candolim where I am staying now. I left Saturday morning took the bus to Panjim then to Margao and finally to Benaulim. I forgot lesson number one never sit at the back of the bus ESPECIALLY if you don't know where you are going. He was very persistent but in the end we let him take us to our hotel for a few rupees an told him we might call him later if we wanted a tour we knew that we weren't going to but it was the only way we c

I'm an optimist who's continually forced to come to terms with reality. When I was still in Thailand my plan was to travel overland to Italy. No planes. And so I in great solemnity ripped my return ticket to Rome off a burgeous symbol and set in motion well with imagination more than in reality. I was still only in my imagination in Tibet when I realized that those high mountains are simpl

We awake to find that our new home is clean well maintained and ideal for our needs if not a bit green The exploration of Benaulim starts with a 10 minute walk to the beach and breakfast at the only open beach bar Pedrorsquos. We enjoy the beach for a while savouring the moment. Walking back we stop to pick up groceries from both the supermarket and the greengrocer. It being the monsoon al

23rd January 2009ATD Leaving northern India was a relief for me. I feel more at home in the relaxed tropical environs of Goa where we have decided to kick back for a month to recuperate from the wedding. We were sad to say goodbye to our driver Susil. Despite his undying devotion to blaring hindi music he had been reliable and unwaveringly cheerful company. The flight was another long one. In

Alexia and I spent a quiet day recovering from the celebrations of the night before. We spent several hours under an umbrella at Johncyrsquos during which I emerged victorious from a hotly contested game of travelscrabble. Only because I was to drunk from the Pina Coladas I was sipping all afternoon babe ABDWe walked south down the beach and enjoyed a magical Goan sunset distinctive for it

2008 was a fantastic year highlighted by the entry into my life of the passion of my existence Alexia B Demetriou. We spent the last day of the year at place called Anjuna in the northern part of Goa. On our way north we stopped for lunch at the Goan capital Panaji Panjim. Panaji is much cleaner and has much more character than any large Indian cities we have seen so far. We ate at a lovely l

Adam Bek Anabelle Tim Anjali and us arrived in Goa today via a bus from the Maharastian chaos of Pune. The bus ride was difficult to endure. The constant hairpin bends those Adelaidians amongst you just picture devilrsquos elbow repeated dozens of times in a row made the experience similar to taking a roller coaster at a carnival but not being allowed off for several hours. So arrive in Go

Sorry for the rather brief last entry. We made the mistake of going to use the internet in a shop the size of a small cupboard 3 Indian staff sat within 2 feet watching the screen over our shouldersVaranassi was lovely though and we were big and brave and managed to find the right train from the right platform. We set off for the peacefull city of Mumbai at 1130am on the 29th and arrived at 2

It's a bit of a long one so make sure your sitting comfortably. We spent 5 nights in Varkala and it was a really chilled out place.
So much for making my way down to Kerala When you travel in India trains have to be booked several days in advance as they tend to fill up very quickly so I decided to travel as far South as I could in Goa and bide my time on another beautiful beach while I wait for the day of my train journey to come around. The main city in South Goa is Magdeon or Margao. Itrsquos a small town with a smal

So apologies a rose by any other name etc. Don't want the comment box getting clogged up unnecessarily.
