Leaving Burrum Heads

How awful to see on TV the terrible pictures coming from the Samoan earthquake and tsunami. We feel so much for those who have lost loved ones.We have had two restful days at pretty Burrum Heads. We always enjoy our little stays here. We've stayed when all the campers are the retirees who have been coming for years to spend the winter months here gradually 'working' their way to the front river

Whale watching in Hervey Bay

From Noosa we travelled further north to Hervey Bay. This is principally the gateway for Fraser Island but it is also the whale watching capital of the world so we could hardly refuse the opportunity to go meet some friendly whales. It is a wellknown whale watching spot in July to October as Hervey Bay is en route of the humpback whales southern migration down to the Antartic waters in the so

Having a Whale of a Time

One of the many suggested 'must dos' in Australia is to visit Hervey Bay and take a day cruise out into the bay to watch the Humpback Whales congregate in the warm waters and have their calves before swimming back down the coast to Antartic waters later on in the year.So with the opportunity of a two day holiday mid week thanks to Brisbanes' Annual Ekka Show Day similar to the Newbury Show we

We got as far south as Proserpine and stayed at the caravan park. In the morning we had a swim in the heated Olympic pool. It was fun. Left and went through Dingo Beach and stayed to look at Airlie Beach. They were both nice places. Then we drove to Eungella and stayed at the camping ground at the top of the valley. We drove to the dam and got there before 10am. It was nice so we all decid

So had booked a couple of nights here plus I got one free with my Koala Adventures Fraser IslandWhitsundays package. I wasn't as fond of Noosa as I was of Byron it didn't have the same atmosphere and this may've been because we were based a bit further from the beach up a big hill. Oh and the f

On Wednesday we drove from Fraser Island towards Hervey Bay but we stopped first at the Visitor Information Centre in Maryborough where we discovered that they hold a market here every Thursday morning. Maryborough was the birthplace of P. L. Travers author of Mary Poppins although she left when young. We refuelled here and bought lunch from Sauers Pie Shop Bakery which we'd heard about from

We had some time to kill before making our way to the Greyhound bus so we took a little walk. A couple hours gone we were all set up and ready for the bus ride to Hervey BayIt was a pretty lengthy ride but after about 5 some odd hours we made it to Hervey Bay.
Day 79 Byron Bay This is the day when we wrote our last blog and redid all our photo's that had disappeared. The weather was absolutely foul with torrential rain all day so we were not exactly missing out. We did drive out to Mount Warning but we couldn't try and climb it as it is too unsafe in heavy rain. All in all it was a frustrating day stuck in a wet seaside town we were starting to fee

Well I left Paradise a few days ago and have been running ever since. My first stop was Brisbane where I only stayed for a night. I went to the Brisbane Broncos rugby game. Now I don't know much about rugby. I know what a try is and the general rules but little of it makes sense to me. It appeared to be a pretty solid game with the home side winning by 1 pt on a goal in the last few mins. I went
