Today we drove from Ballina to Main Beach via the Tourist Drive which took us through Lennox Head and Byron Bay. A very scenic road. The lookout at Lennox Head provided us with a magnificent view of the coastline. We were about 1 block away from the Main Beach Caravan Park when the power steering went on the car. Luckily Steve could control the van for the last 10 minutes of the trip and get us

Not a lot to write as we are still doing much of the same thing up in Byron Bay. Waves havenrsquot been great the last week and the wind has been pretty strong so not much has been happening on that front. The photos pretty much sum up our last week. We went up to the Gold Coast for a day to check out a few things and so Brett could have a skate at a few new spots up that way and a trip to I

Byron Bay has it all

We've been in Australia for well over a week now and we're really enjoying it here especially as the weather is so good and it's only early Spring Today it's been mid20s again clear blue sky a bit of wind but we are on the coast after all. Doesn't make sunbathing particularly pleasant though with all the sand swirling around. So we're on the beachcoast at Byron Bay not far from Brisbane

We had a blast on Fraser Island. We signed up for a selfdrive tour through our hostel and they set you up with others doing the same thing and basically they give you a car map and camping equipment and send you off. We had heard that the enjoyment of the trip was highly dependent on whether you got along with your group or not makes sense so we were a bit worried about who we would get se

...so we moved on to Byron Bay. We love it here one of our favourites so far. The town itself is really lively errr.. yet chilled. The campsite is good with nice people. There's one particular couple from Ramsbottom who are a little errm... too much. Please note Emily this is not a dig at people in general from Ramsbottom. Just this woman who can't stop talking. Anyway we ended up walki

Our next stop was Byron Bay mecca to the backpacker world a very spiritual place full of new age travelers old and young hippies surfers and lots of backpackers. The Aboriginal Australians were first to feel the pull of the area apparently they told stories of an enlightening place with healing powers and spirituality. It is also home to the most easterly point on Australian mainland. When we

So we accepted that we would stop at a repair shop in Ballina the next morning. In the meantime the sun was shining and we could still get light if we had hook up so

My next few days in Byron Bay passed quite uneventfully mainly due to the constant torrential rain which pretty much stopped us from venturing out of doors for anything but neccessary trips You would step outside and be drenched within 30 seconds even an umbrella helped very little because it was that annoying sideways rain that gets you no matter what We spent a lot of time in our dorm room
