Up bright and early once more it was off to find the bus stop to head south to the beautiful Cesky Krumlov. We managed to score a seat on the student bus and our tickets cost us only 4 euro...what a score. When we arrived to our amazement it was snowing. It only took us a quick 20 mins to walk to where we were staying the Pension Adalbert....which was only 100 metres from old town square and w

Plus I really wanted to work in the song given my location. That was my weak attempt.I woke up this morning and went for a very short run to loosen up my legs. It gave me a nice overview of the small town

Usually my entries are plain on travel days I left such and such a place to go here. I arrived. Thatrsquos it. Well I wonrsquot do that here. I dedicate this entry to Salzburg and the amazing time I had there. When I left on this trip I had highly doubted that any spot I would visit would ever come close to beating some of the cities in Italy I visited two years ago. I had enjoyed that trip

After finally getting over the worst case of the runs i've had in my life we made a new plan and headed for Telc in the Moravian area of the Czech Republic. Telc pronounced Telch is a very cute little town with a Unesco World Heritage listed old town square and a renaissance style castle. But after taking advantage of the free wifi and free washing in Budapest all morning we didn't make it t

TuesdayI got up early today as me Steve Jill Andrea and Grace were going to climb up the Stephansdom tower this morning. We met up at 8.30am and made it to the centre on the Ubahn by 9am just in time for opening. There was no way we were going to miss it this time We found the entrance and started the long climb. It is 349 steps to the top I think I have definitely got fitter on this holiday

9 August 2009We have left Prague and are heading for Cesky Krumlov a quaint little medieval Czech village to the south in the region of Bohemia. We were amazed by the Krumlov Castle which looks as though it has been work in progress since the beginning of the 14th century on top of the hill overlooking the village. The village is in the crook of the river Vltava the same river that flows through

Cesky Krumlov Day 56 May 2324We were fortunate to have a minibus to take us to Cesky Krumlov which is over the border into the Czech Republic. The drive was through very scenic and green countryside always with a redroofed village appearing with lovely church towers in the distance. Cesky Krumlov is a Bavarian town that has belonged to various countries. However itrsquos Czech heritage

I love it it had such charm with its cobblestone sidewalks babbling river not as innocently babbling on this trip I'll explain later colorful castle tower and hilly landscape.
Today was a lovely day. The weather was fantastic. A perfect blue sky day. Our tour guide told us that he specially ordered the weather for us with a couple of sacrifices. We started off the day with a lovely breakfast of the typical local fare. Bread and cheese and ham The first order of the day was a wee bike ride through the hills behind of Cesky Krumlov. This was an absolutely beautiful t

Today we headed off from Vienna from towards the Czaech Republic. We were meant to have our private mini van transport arrive from us at 930am. However our tour leader left a note for us in the morning saying that the bus had been delayed until 1100. And then when we got downstairs for the 1100 bus that the bus had been delayed until 1200. So Susan and I decided that we would walk into town a

It really is a cute little town. This morning we spent some time chatting with Jiri our host. He was about our age so it was cool talking to him. We toured the castle this morning well the outside of it anyway. We didn't think it would be wo

There were a lot of detours so we were lost and late but we finally made it. The people there were very nice and they had an interpreter for those of us who don't know Czech. After 20 minutes of trying to find my hostel i discoverd it was down the road and around the corner from the station Oh well live and learn.
I did a day trip to Cesky Krumlove and the bus ticket there was a horrible ripoff. Get the student agency buses or the other company that'll give an ISIC discount. I paid about 50 more to get there but managed to get a student discount price back. That said it's usually much cheaper to just buy a ticket on the bus they won't give a student discount and it's cash only but it's a lot cheaper and

After spending several consecutive hours mimicking the afterlife of most sardines we transferred to our final train. We then penetrated the outer forces of the Czech Republic with the clickaclack one most often hears during those modes of travel. Katie and I entered Prague by nightfall. As it was a very impromptu move on our part I hadn't the time to learn any Czech. Now this would inevitabl

Great weather. Toured the castle. Dates back to 14th Century. Very interesting. Lots of walking. Included a bear pit with bear. Castle was owned by Rosenburg family initially. Gothic Renaissance and Baroque. Fairy tale town. Very few people speak English. Food is different can't read the menu. Beer is good. Off to Prague tomorrow.
