We purchased 24hour metro tickets for 3 euro and hopped on the rails to the Acropolis stop. The ferry was scheduled to leave at 1150 the hotel manager assured us we needed to be driving by 1015. Because the port was 10 minutes away and they don't really bother with anything like security we had about an hour to kill while we waited to board the ship. Though we can probably cross the widest area of Montreal in about 3 hours on Chios it is a totally different story. The island is mountainous and most of the sites on Chios are on different altitude thus it is harder to estimate the time from one site to another. It is a small village with about fifty inhabitants all of whom are over 30 years of age. Most young people have moved out into the cities and only return during holidays.
