Excellent 45 minute flight on Agean Airways and tho Athens was amazing we felt like we were finally in the Greece we had imagined. Our

So we haven't blogged for a bit but we've been here in Skala Eressos on Lesbos for about 10 days or so. This entry is kind of a compilation of things we have done on the islandWe're staying on the lower floor of a house that belongs to Eleni's relatives. Because this floor isn't connected to the one above it we essentially have our own house with three bedrooms two bathrooms a kitchen and a l

Catch Up from EVERYONE Part 2 Acropolis

The Acropolis and StuffEveryone met at the girls' room at 1030 to begin the metro ride to the Acropolis. We purchased 24hour metro tickets for 3 euro and hopped on the rails to the Acropolis stop. The line to get in to the Acropolis seemed pretty long so we waited in it for a while before Aaron realized that the actual line to get in was about two people long and the other one was to buy ticket

Catch Up from EVERYONE

AthensThe boys woke up at 10 for a 130 plane flight to Athens. Upon seeing it was a propeller plane some people launched into the Tailspin theme song and later Indiana Jones. Those who were silent probably didn't join in because they were unfamiliar with the references. When they landed in Athens they were greeted by Eleni and Sam. After saying hello the girls related the story of their gruel

Catch Up from Boy Group Part 2

The Next DayWe woke up in Santorini and grabbed a cab to the port to take a ferry to Mykonos. The ferry was scheduled to leave at 1150 the hotel manager assured us we needed to be driving by 1015. Because the port was 10 minutes away and they don't really bother with anything like security we had about an hour to kill while we waited to board the ship. Since we were in Greece where pretty muc

A quick run down of my travels from when I last left off on the boat from Kushadasi to Samos......Shan and I caught the ferry from Kusadasi and arrived in Samos more than a little hungover from our nights adventures in Kusadasi and decided that given there was a boat going in a coupe of hours to Ikaria an Island we realy wanted to visit despitre our hangovers from the night before we had bette

Leaving Greece

We arrived Chios around 430am. We drove off the boat and were soon informed that the next boat leaving for Turkey would not leave at 8am as scheduled but at 4pm. They told us the boat was ldquobrokenrdquo. We made the best of it and spent the day exploring the town. We finally loaded the car around 330 then watched as the one other car squeezed on board this tiny little ferry. About 45min. l

Site around Chios

The size of Chios is comparable to the island of Montreal. Though we can probably cross the widest area of Montreal in about 3 hours on Chios it is a totally different story. The island is mountainous and most of the sites on Chios are on different altitude thus it is harder to estimate the time from one site to another. We spend an entire day driving around and only covered a small portion of

Festivals and Parties Chios

There are many Cretans living in Chios and they have a radio program each week playing Cretan music. Rena's friend works at the station and organized a party to celebrate their 300th programming. Lucky for me we got invited to the party. I got a little taste of Cretan dancing. Funny is really looks like River Dance. The dance is all leg work and no upper body movement. My friends made fun of me

After buying groceries for the next three days as Sunday all stores are closed everywhere in Greece and Monday being a holiday we spent the day at Mirmingi village home village to Christina. It is a small village with about fifty inhabitants all of whom are over 30 years of age. Most young people have moved out into the cities and only return during holidays. Though there are bigger villages a

Ferry to Chios

With the flight cancellation and delays I was 2 days off schedule. Fortunately the ferry to Chios was at 4pm so I could sleep in and recover from the crazy two days of travel. I didn't do much in Athens we took it slow on Friday morning. Christina's car needed repair so we took her car to the Suzuki garage and left it there. Funny thing is the day I arrived in Greece is the day the electric

It's all Greek to me

It's amazing what a difference a 45 minute boat ride can make I left Tuesday night for the closest Grecian island to Cesme which is called Chios. Each time I asked for a map or a guidebook people could only offer me vague maps of the entire island so I was really curious what this small town and island might behold Honestly I've always wanted to do a Grecian island cruise of some sort so
