Mountains are the means the man is the end.
I rose from my bed early Wednesday morning caught a bus into town connecting with the Fremantle train around 8 am when we arrived at Freo we went for a vegetarian breakfast at Dome. Unfortunately for us none of the museums were open yet so we visited the Round House first before moving on to the excellent Shipwreck Museum near the Marina which featured the wreck of the Batavia and then the equall

We hooked up with Frances and Susan Aussie sisters and made our way to the train a short 15minute walk. It was interesting to watch the towns go by and strange to see immaculate stations and lively areas around the tracks. No trash or dilapidated buildings here. This place is booming.
Well yesterday we took the bus and then the train to get into Perth City Centre to check out what Perth has to offer. We had read in our Lonely Planet guide which is starting to be our travel bible that Kings Park was supposed to be one of its highlights. So get to Perth and another bus needed to be taken to get to the Park. The park main attractions were its botanical gardens and its lotterywest f

Well we have arrived in Western Australia and after a good nights sleep we decided that we should go and explore Fremantle which is where we are staying around 35 minutes outside Perth. I decided that I would not book us a hotel as they are so expensive over here and found this great little cottage on the internet. Wow what a place and it even has its own kitchen. Which I know sounds silly but we

James and Dad were already there because they had caught an earlier flight and thought they were so cool. We used my games like Skylanders Mario 2012 Olympics Games on his Wii. He had a pet galah. I used to make him dance by bending up and down. There was a new space center that was opened by Buzz Adlerian. We took Maverick with us. We got to si

Day 2 of Colman and Gaffers Most Bogus Adventures is the day that the car actually came into our ownership. The pair of us it could be said maybe overindulged in Fremantle the night before. We were possibly celebrating the purchase of our new car or maybe Colman was introducing himself slowly to the Aussie way of life again after his stint in the Philippines. Either way Day 2 started off wit

She drove me down to Fremantle which is the working port Prth is actually a few miles upriver.
6 January 15 March 2012 Well our time at Coogee has finally come to an end. Looking back on our time living on the other side I have some mixed but mostly happy memories bubbling to the surface. It has been a memorable experience living on the western side of the continent albeit only for a short time. All in all it has been 78 months in two separate stints living over in Coogee.
A feast for the senses

First impressions of Perth when we landed were the vastness of the sky its blueness and the brightness of the light. Artists come here to seek out this crisp dazzling light I gather it is quite startling. The other shocker was the heat it was only 7am in the morning but we certainly felt out of place in our fleeces and jeans in the 25 degree heat not as bad as others who had ugg boots on

Nice and cool conditions to start the day so we decided to head out for a ride destination Swan Valley. As we drove towards Perth the cloud cover started to clear and it began to warm up but given the early start we were good to go. The Guildford Information Centre provided some very good maps of the Swan Valley region and the staff were extra helpful so we set out on a 16 km bike ride. The Swa
