We hired bicycles to get around the island for the day which was fab and good exercise in the sunshine. We rode to Little Salmon Bay where we stopped for some time had the lunch we'd bought at island entrance and relaxed in the sun. On the way back to the bike rental

We went on a day trip to Rottnest Island today which is a 25 minute boat ride from Fremantle. It was such a lovely place with gorgeous beaches and coves. The boat was fairly full and the townships had quite a few people in but once we were out of them everywhere was empty. We hired bikes and now have sore bottoms We cycled all round the island which was 24km I think. That is a lot of cycling fo

G'day from Australia After a teary farewell with Mummy at Heathrow Airport i boarded the A380 Airbus to Perth. My stopover was at Singapore 12 hours and 40 minutes later and i was very lucky in that i got off one plane and hopped onto the next which meant that i didn't have to hang around the airport long. 5 hours and 5 minutes later i touched down in Perth. Immediately i felt the heat of 30degr

On the last day before leaving Perth we went out to Rottnest Island for the day. It's a great little island 17km long and no cars are allowed so it's really peaceful. Given that we both get very bad sea sickness we had to make a decision between getting there quick on a bumpy speedboat or geting there slowly on a ferry. We chose the former. It was really fun and we weren't sick but the

Today we went to Rottnest Island. The name came from a captain who discovered the island. Once landed he thought it was infested with big rats and named it rat nest island. They aren't rats but Quokka's they look like mini kangaroo'sWe caught the bus round as it's quite big and we could hop on and off as much as liked. The beaches are all pituresque. We got off at Salmon point took a really

Today we took the Rottnest Express over to Rottnest Island. We rented bicycles for the day and spent the day cycling around the island. Rottnest has 63 beaches and 20 bays on an island which is approximately 10.5 km long and 4.5 km at its widest point. The roads around Rottnest are limited to a very few number of tour buses and bicycles. It was a cool day ideal for biking but maybe not warm en

We are leaving for Bali in about two hours which is quite exciting but before we go I wanted to wrap up our trip in Australia. We ended up spending 2 weeks in Perth which was both good and bad.
We went to Kings Park which overlooks Perth CBD. There was a wildflower exhibition on this month and they had flowers from all over the state. At the water garden there was some baby ducklings only a few days old. Perth has a free bus service called CAT and there are 3 of them. The red blue and yellow. They crisscross the Perth CBD. Fremantle also has the CAT. We got to catch one when we

Roisin dropped us off in Fremantle to take the ferry across to the Island. Once we arrived we rented some bikes and made our way around with ONE gear only.
