What an experience this has been No info about prices unfortunately since we did things in a slightly different way here. So here we go...Took the bus from Maun to Nata where we were supposed to take the next bus to Kasane. The bus never came so instead we hitch hiked with a pipeline worker in his pick up. Yes it is safe to do so in Botswana Arrived late afternoon only to discover that the

March 15 Kasane BotswanaThe African bush was more than 10 feet high on both sides of the Land Rover. It was so thick and so close to the truck we wouldnrsquot have been able to open the doors if wersquod tried. All that was fine considering we were in the middle of the best wildlife viewing of our African adventure. And frankly why would we want to open the doors given that a large male

Botswana

After a really good sleep exhausted after the activities at Victoria Falls we heading towards the Botswana border. It was quite a short drive for once which was a nice change. This was one of the most hectic and interesting borders we have seen. Leaving the truck we all had to walk about 5 minutes to the immigration office to get our visas. At each border we have to fill out entry and exit cards

Kasane Excursion

We arrived in Francistown around 6 on the morning of Sunday October 5th where we were met by a bus to take us up to Kasane another four hours on a badly potholed road. We got within half an hour of Kasane when the bus broke down outside cell service so our driver hitched a ride into town leaving us to bake in the bush for a couple hours until he returned with two khombis. Around 4 in the af

Day 6 Elephant Sands to Kasane

Although breakfast was at 8 I awoke at 6.15 and heard everyone else moving around. I got up and by 6.45 we had the tents down and packed away. I sat to write my diary overlooking the watering hole. Saw the squirrelchipmunk thing that I saw yesterday in the eaves of the bar we also saw a big mousesmall rat scuttling along the beams at dinner. I also watched the yellow weavers building and some

Crazy border crossings

It doesn't get much better than this. Sort of a welcome back to true Africa. It took us 5 hours to get onto the ferry to cross the river into Zambia. Too bad we couldn't drive through Zimbabwe and use the bridge instead. Some of the transport trucks have been waiting up to 10 days before they can cross. Total carnage.

Out of the Delta and into the Baobabs

We packed in our camp today first thing right at dawn. I've seen more sunrises in the past week then I have in a combined amount of years. The water lilies were still all shut in the early morning sun as we glided back out of the delta. It was chilly to say the least and the lilies had the right idea.We only had a limited day of planned activities and with the exception of running the bus

After our volunteer experience we headed back down to Livingstone and decided to take our hostel up on an offer for a fantastic safari at a budget price low wet season. We headed to Botswana and to Elephant Valley Lodge for a 3 night 4 day Safari. It was spectacular and we saw all the Big 5 EXCEPT lions. We were a bit disappointed because we found their prints and tried to track them most
