Tandil on the pampas

We travelled down here on Sunday afternoon across nearly 400 km of dead flat but heavily cultivated pampas the trip only interrupted by the bus breaking down about three and a half hours into the trip. Some problem with the brakes Fortunately a local mechanic with a couple of pliers and a bit of wire got us sorted in about 30 minutes. On our first evening we met a lone German Jurgen who was tra

Well there is a catch to the title the town that rocks and rolls and it has to do with the history and what this town is proud of....... Tandil is a town located 6 hours away by bus from Buenos Aires and is well known for its beautiful countryside its rocking rock and not forgetting its tasty cheeses. For the long public holiday weekend Katharine Emily and I decided to visit Tandil and take

Tandil Part One

Tandil is a 5 hour bus journey from BA but don't let that put you off. It's one of very few places in teh province of Buenos Aires that actually has hills. That's really why we went as the flatness of the pampas was getting to us a bit. How lucky we were with the weather though. BA was sweltering in 30odd degrees of Spring heat and Tandil was only a few degrees below. It was great. We stayed with

The Calm before the Storm

Last weekend we went to Tandil with half the group. Tandil is about 5 hours south of Buenos Aires by bus but still in the province of Buenos Aires. It lies right in the middle of the sierrashills. The province of Buenos Aires is completely flat except for Tandil which has many hills.Tandil is known for its moving rock that doesn't move anymore. The main attraction of Tandil was a rock that us

Tired of the sun and sand

For a change of scenery we have moved inland to the small city of Tandil. We are situated in the heart of an agricultural area and passed by many large farms with fields in full production. The green corn fields make a huge contrast with the yellow of the ripening barley fields. Lots of Holstein cows out in the fields and needless to say there are cheese factories galore.
