So its 730am Friday 2nd October Day 26 and were at the bus station at Paraty waiting for a bus to take us back to Sao Paulo. The bus departs at 830am and we arrive in Sao Paulo for 3pm. Once there we were hoping to able to jump straight on the bus to the Iguazu Falls but unfortunately the next one wasnt until 630pm. During the wait we tried a Bobs Burger which is basically like a McDo

After a good nights sleep in the hostel it was time to visit the Argentinian side of the falls and at last the sun was out.On this side you could get up very close there were two routes one across the bottom of the falls and one at the top culminating in the Gargantua Diablo the Devils throat which is a crescent shaped drop where most of the water flows.I spent all day at the falls and they

I was travelling all night on two separate flights to get to Foz de Iguassu and arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm it continued to rain all morning. From the airport I had to get 2 local buses to travel initially to the Brazilian town of Foz de Iguacu from where I caught another bus to the Argentinian town of Puerto Iguazu everything in Argentina is half the price as in Brazil plus it is

I eventually arrived in the town of Foz de Iguazu at midday on Monday 22 June after a 23 hour bus journey. I found a hotel about 5 minutes walk from the bus terminal and was overjoyed when I saw my huge room. It came with a choice of three single beds cable TV and bathroom. It got even better when I turned the TV on and saw the final round of the US Open golf was on. After the long bus journe

Iguassu Falls Day Two

Thursday morning we drove across the border to view the falls from the Argentina side. The Argentina custom officials go at their own speed and needlessly delay this process. Our local guide Wilson was nearly arrested when he had the nerve to complain about the rediculous delay. When we finally got to Argentina side of the falls we had to take a couple trains to the Devil's Throat Overlook. We m

Wednesday morning it was off to the airport for our TAM Airlines flight to Foz do Iguau Brazil. As we landed at the small Foz do Iguau Airport it was pouring rain. There were no jetways so we got wet. We were greeted at the airport by Wilson our local guide. It was a 30 minute drive to our hotel inside the national park. By the time we had gotten to the park the rain had subsided to just a li

I'm heading off to Iguau Falls Brazilian side. I'm only spending one night on the Brazilian side as everyone tells me you only need 4 hours to see everything on that side. I share a cab with Kas my new friend to the bus station and we part ways there as he is on an earlier bus to Iguau. Another night sleeping on the bus. Oh well at least I get to save a night's stay in a hostel. I arrive at

I left Lima under a little cloud. I had planned two volunteering projects for my next two countries but after being let down by the company organising the placements repeatedly and much heartache I pulled out from both the day before my flight to Brazil. I still had flights to Iguassu in Brazil and Hondurus so rather than waste them I decided to make the best of it and travel anyway.I didnrsquo

Here we go again. Another great time in this wondorous place.Well Iguassu is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The Falls are their main attraction obviously The Falls are fantastic especially the Argentinian side looking accross to Brazilian side. You can see the ferocity and massive volume of water ponding down from the Devils Throat into an oblivion of mist. Reminds me when Superman h

Iguazu was amzing We had only just started on the path to the falls and spied a pretty butterfly up ahead. We were momentarily transfixed but not for long as a big hairy tarantula scuttled its way along the trail just centimetres from our jandalled feet. And then as we neared a bend we heard a noise in the bushes. Then out popped a family of Coatis These furry guys are pretty tame and used

OiWell we have to say that our 16 hour bus journey was well worth the ride. We waved goodbye to the green senery and jungles of Brazil before passing into the lowlands. We noticed a considerable difference in peoples wealth the further south we travelled they seemed more well off with their pick up trucks and pretty houses it felt a bit like Arizona. We arrived in Foz do Iguau on Tuesday aroun

Theyre quite different than Niagara because theyre in the middle of a giant National Park and you can actually walk on catwalks and look down on the

Hola mis amigosSo the last time we wrote we were embarking on a bus journey to Sao Paulo. this was our first long haul bus jouney and was surprisingly comfortable. Seats were like arm chairs and reclined almost fully back so a bit better than your average 'National Express'. Even had a couple of movies on the way which were probably the worst movies we have ever seen We didn't have the best in

First a quick note on our 22 hr bus journey from Rio to Foz de Iguazu. It wasnrsquot the best journey Irsquove ever been on. Our seats were allocated and we had seats 1 2 which were right up the front. That was great as it meant we were away from the toilet but bad because it was behind the driver and I had no leg room compared to the other seats. It went by pretty fast but it was hell to
