HSo it's been a month of holidaying now and I seem to think we have quite gotten the hang of this. A couple of travelling lessons three very long bus rides some grazed arms and alpaca wool paraphernalia we have seen and done a lot more than we even imagined when we set off We are in Peru now where everyone is so sweet and helpful the women are short and colourful in their pretty skirts. So p

Hier fuehlt man sich in gewissen Vierteln wie in Europa und es gibt viel Schweizer Kaese zu kaufen und so Zeug Schoggi. Verwirrend.
The family and I finally decided to travel to Peru to hike around the mountains an see Machu Pichu We had a blast and it was interesting to see the Incan ruins and see how people live over there. The thing is that a guide is pretty important and you may want to do some research of what to expect. If you're traveling to Peru make sure to keep your valuables safe because even though most of the pe

Getting Sorted

We have picked the route and realize that we are bound for highh altitude and cold weather. There are very few certainties. One we think for sure is that the two week estimation for time needed to complete this adventure is a bit unrealistic. Most locals think it will take over 5 days via motortaxi to get from Huancayo to Cuzco which we estimate is only about one fifth of our journey. And in terms

We headed back to the house and the day would have been a dud had we not gone to the water park. 17 degrees celsius and we go to the water park...hmm. No it was actually a water show so to speak.
LimaDay 17 wasnt much for me at least. I woke up around 1 pm and immediately got dressed for a house party at some familys house. After getting full dressed and ready it was such a dire emergency for me to take a shower at that very moment so I went back up and showered even though we were kinda already late. There were plenty of people there to talk most of the party we had to make a 2 hour

So when planning our trip to South America Sharon had a few specific requests of places she had to visit Lima being one of them. I duly promised that we could visit despite all that I had heard about the city and non of it being positive.Anyway on our travels round various people were able to confirm what I had already heard about the city and Sharon became less and less bothered about staying in

Ok so we intended to write our final blog in Lima but just did not get around to it. So we are writing it from home. So our last days in Lima were a bit of a tired blur. Very large and crowded city but we were staying in a nice little hostel in a suburb near the beach with a friendly greeting dog.Day one was spent relaxing and repacking which is when Justin found out his phone was stolen

It first hit me when I nestled down into my tiny window seat on LAN flight 072 bound for Lima My time in the Amazon was over. I had conflicting emotions as the doors on the plane closed. I was definitely happy to be going home but I was already missing the forest and all of the mysteries hidden beneath its canopy. The plane was filled to capacity with a mixture of foreign tourists and Peruv

Terrible night sleep. Nearly froze to death but happy to be heading for Lima today. Made it to the bus station and found a bus headed for Lima. It is a close to a 22 hour ride. Crazy long but need to be at the airport tomorrow for a flight home. No crazy bus stories except one. They make it very clear that when you ride the bus that has a toilet you should only urinate. Well early in the
