Okay truth be told the brownies weren't so great and the kids and parents got grouchy with each other. We'll blame it on the altitude at least the bad brownie part. But it's a new day and we had tons of fun running around in the snow last night playing tag. And then playing Mexican Train and HideNSeek in the motorhome. The boys sang with me as they fell asleep You are my strength when I am

Portland StormLots more driving today and lots more snow. We began the day with a great warm breakfast with our new extended family and then warm goodbyes on a very cold blizzardy morning. Within 5 minutes on the crazy Vancouver roads we were lost all the roads look like country residential roads that go on for miles. But real men can ask for directions And my man is a real man So we got he

2133 vertical meters in height and 15 km in length in 30 hours of time that was the challenge laid out before us. Set in the idyllic mix of pastures and conifer forests of Northern California Shasta is the second largest Cascade Volcano at 14179 feet. According to legend Lemurian aliens are said to live inside. I signed up for the guided trip last April and for the last 5 months I prepared

Mt Shasta

Six friends and I decided to drive to Mt Shasta near the Oregon border for a little quiet time. We spent three days in the area exploring the mountain and the surrounding areas. We visited near the top of the mountain. It is a very peaceful place... we sat and contemplated and meditated for a long time. The area is above the timberline and is very rocky with few trees... feels barren. Yet

RunWalk in Mt Shasta

The 4th of July RunWalk is the big shindig each year in Mt Shasta. It's become so popular chances are you won't find a room if you haven't booked one already. There's a KOA camp in town plus camp sites at Lake Siskiyou but if you do plan to be in Mt Shasta over the 4th better find a place to stay now.Gas is always at least 30 cents higher in Siskiyou County than either Redding or MedfordKlamat

Itrsquos springtime in Mt Shastafinally. After more than a week of sloppy skies my cats have abandoned the wood stove for mouse patrol. The dreary skies failed to keep the summer wanderers in the valley. I saw my first purple hippy bus yesterday. Summers in Mt Shasta always pull in a variety of strangers from jet setting guests at Hearst Castle on the McCloud River to old hippies with their fl

Although my dream is to travel New Zealand I live near beautiful Mt Shasta home of the Lemurians.Lemurians are kissing cousins of the Irish Leprechauns. They're short mischievous and very hard to see. I've lived there many years and haven't seen one yet. But I've never seen the space ships that come to the mountain for refueling either. It's been a cold hard winter but I'm looking forward to s

I left Cottage Grove after work on Friday. I was a bit anxious about the drive as I was unsure about the weather conditions. However the road was really clear and I got to Linda's in Yreka California at about 715pm. Linda then drove the remainder of the way to Mount Shasta. Luckily she knew exactly how to get there. Even in the dark you could tell the place was lovely. Our lodge was right

Yesterday our USA road trip across country from San Francisco back to the east coast kicked off. Jason Talula and I started out heading up to Weed California just north of Mt. Shasta. The drive unfortunately began later in the afternoon and most of the 4 hour drive was in the dark. We stopped 80 miles in at the Pilot Gas Station and I was excited to see gas as low as 3.29. I always find la

Many people believe Mt. Shasta has supernatural powers from the Native Americans known as the Shasta to the multitude of residents that make their home near the volcano today. Adherents to Hinduism New Age beliefs and Buddhist monks are drawn to the volcano's serenity and imposing presence. So are outdoor enthusiasts because at 14200 feet Shasta is the 2nd largest volcano in the Cascades so
