Day 3 Bezirgan Saribelen GokceorenToday we decided to get up early and then take a break during afternoon when its really hot. Still we got up around 600 and left around 700. After a short downhill walk we reached Bezirgan We were hoping to get some breakfast here but the town looked closed.
We have been travelling north along the coast. The towns vary markedly. My favourites are those with the cobbled streets and fishing village atmosphere. Of course some are highly geared to tourists and the worst look like the nasty side of Spain. We have seen the ugly tourists badly burned and in search of beer and fries Oh yes we have plenty of them at home too.I take the opportunity to swim i

Lycian Way

Walking along the Lycia way part of it was a sort of last minute decision. We had thought about it when planning our Turkey trip but dismissed it as it would have involved lot of domestic travel and would take days away from other things. But true to our nature hikers at heart we curtailed other plans to accomodate the backpacking trip. Overall we hadnt planned much about the trip. We had

Turkey is a beautiful country. One of the greatest appeals of Turkey is its direct connection with the Sea of Marmara and the Dardanelles together these two waterways form a water link between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. Thislocation of both land and sea makes the climate in Turkey exceptional for vacationing. On average the summer climate in Turkey is one that is dry and hot with a mo

An EPIC day

Taking the D400 in an easterly direction we opened the car windows and sped towards Perge. Passing hundreds of road side sellers with succulent strawberries and huge bags of oranges there was plenty to see. From the hotel complexes to the small one room dwellings and the lone cows on any piece of grass. The traffic lights fascinated Woolly.
Sitting proudly on the peninsula of Alanya sits the castle. With the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky we set of to explore. Although possible to walk up to quite a big walk Woolly refused to walk up and down so we picked up a taxi which took only a few minutes to arrive at the castle gates.Woolly says Im sure all this walking isnt good for me It was a fun ride to the top going

With some clouds in the sky and a light drizzle of rain we continued on our route back to Alanya. Having looked at the map we spotted the location of Syedra.Woolly says this looked like a really good idea WRONG turning off the main road we headed towards a mountain in the distance. With the road becoming a dirt track narrower and narrower with a huge drop down the mountainside Ian tried to

Wanting to see more of Turkey we decided to hire a car and head towards Kizkalesi east of Alanya and approximately 400km away having done some research we knew that there were loads of Roman ruins and plenty of castles to see and investigate.
