There have been many travels since my last blog Berlin Andorra the Pyranees Alicante Albarracin Majorca Picos de Europa Bilbao Asturias and Teruel. We travelled a great deal of the country overland by car as the realisation came to us that our time here was coming to an end and we had spent too much of our free time and money travelling abroad. Spain needed some attention and finally w

Day 56. 15319KmAs I was getting ready for bed last night there was some lightning in the sky and I did hear a few drops. That is the first rain I have seen in weeks. On the drive today though it rained for an hour or so. The sky was very dark to the North so I think they had it harder. I could'nt get the camera out fast enough and being on the Trans Canada it's not as easy or smart to just pull o

Changes in Latitudes.....

It's Sunday night Father's Day and I'm in Weyburn Saskatchewan about 112 hours away from the US border to N. Dakota. It's just about midnight here and I've just received an email from Heather Brett with a letter attached for me for father's day and I still have tears in my eyes. On top of that Field of Dreams is on Bravo and I'm crying as I always do when Kevin Costner plays catch with hi

Home again

We are already having taco withdrawal so we go shopping and buy a bunch of fresh veggies and peppers and make up some salsas. Next day we even go and buy masa flour and a tortilla press along with a bottle of tequila. This cold is crazy You can't even take in a deep breath without your lungs going into a spasm from the cold air. People down there asked us how we lived in such a cold place.

Hello from Regina SK. A very cold flat place. Reminds me of Iowa in the winter We have a split week this week. So we go back to work tomorrow after just loading out in Grand P. last night. And then we load out here Wednesday and head to some other forsaken and cold Canadian town. It's our last week in canada. Next monday we fly thankfully to Billings Montana. I am very excited to get b

I thought I would make a trial run with my blog since I still refuse to get on creep book to ensure that you do not miss out on the mischeif and toomfoolery that I plan to get in to in the Land Down Under. The reality is starting to sink in when I packed my back back courtesey of Hofer and realized that the Fking thing is heavy.
Regina Saskatchewan. It was a time for family friends and finding filters. All the family was joyed to see us excited for our journey and sad to see us go. The strangers we met were intrigued about our adventure and eager to help us out anyway they could. At times the generosity left us speechless. While the guys were on the hunt for the perfect filtration setup Emilie aided Chantelle in her s

the first painfully slow filtration set up.

Though our filtration system was not yet fine tuned the guys wanted to get collecting used oil for our stock pile so they went ahead anyways with what filters they had. Almost 4 hours outside in the back alleys of downtown Regina they slowly pumped used oil from the collection bins during the first real snowfall of the season. Getting back after dark cold and wet they took the oil over to the neig

Where my Music's Playing

It's always dangerous to write about experiences that occurred almost two months ago. With the passage of time comes a natural romantisization. The nostalgic part of my brain has already added a soundtrack and cut out the down time. But my warm feelings of Saskatchewan in summer never change. Dennie and I touched down in Regina tired and excited in early July with high expectations of weddings bb

The drive wasnrsquot too bad but we were both exhausted from the trail. We arrived in Regina around 9 and went to the hostel where we wanted to stay but it was all full. So we had our first night in a half decent motel. In the morning we headed to the farmers market downtown which we were expecting to be pretty good since wersquore in farm country. However we were pretty disappointed at th

Day 0

5 hours to go. Am sufficiently pretired. Pretired is sort of like predrinking except that it doesn't involve booze. No wait... pretired is nothing like predrinking. So my plan has been to get up 2 or 3 hours earlier than usual which makes the time difference only 6 rather than 8. Next on the 8 hour flight to Amsterdam is to stay awake for the first hour but then to sleep

I'm vibrating with excitement I haven't done the blogging thing since my last trip to SouthEast Asia last January and thought it might be nice to do it again to share my travels with you my family and friends.
Okay... so all that remains is to pack. I think. Routes are planned bookings are made passports are valid... all that good stuff. I'm going to try to figure out if it's possible to show our first excursion in Vienna on a map. Until we get to Europe there will likely be more posting at the Broads Abroad site.
