We arrived in Kunming at about 2pm. Kunming is 1890m above sea level so already you find yourself adjusting to the changes and notice the mild temperature compared with Hong Kong. We negotiated for our taxi at the airport and headed straight to the Camelia Hotel which was the meeting point for our Gap Adventures Southern China Adventure around South West China. Can't say it was the nicest pl

Xi Shan or Western Hills

Xi Shan or The Western Hills Scenic Area stretches along steep straight up and down cliffs near Kunming. There are giant pines and many ancient temples. Old narrow pathways all built along rising slopes twist around to places surrounded by ancient trees and shrubs. Covered stone corridors connect each pavilion and room so one has the feeling of coming indoors and outdoors again and again.

Among the most dramatic scenic attractions we visited on our trip to Yunnan Province was The Stone Forest referred to since the Ming Dynasty 13681644 A.D. as the 'First Wonder of the World.' An old local saying says that 'If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest you have wasted your time.' It is true the Stone Forest is definitely one of a kind Approximately 270 millio

Our guide Mike greeted us with a song and delivered us to the hotel which was neither new like everything in Beijing nor fancy but it was clean and more than adequate. In the morning we set off early for the Golden Temple Daoist

I thnk it's pretty strange if every place in America had the same type of music people would go on strike.
