Last day in school

Someday has to be the first some day has to be the last. The third Friday was special. Itrsquos always hard to say good bye. Especially if you know that you probably wonrsquot see each other again. Even if you always go like ldquoLetrsquos meet againrdquohellip you know how it often ends up. Therersquore new things waiting around the corner. Everything has its time. And place. Anywa

Times flying

Well time to wrap it up here in Polruan. Nearly three weeks have passed. They went pretty quick after all. Everything felt a bit slow in the start as with everything that is new but then time was speeding uphellip R from ChileStockholm invited us all to his beautiful cottage with an extraordinary view over the estuary as a little fare well party. We got to know his wife and children and

One hour in a boat thats enough

Of course we had to see the great ldquoestuaryrdquo a word as frequent as ldquoquayrdquo in this place from a closer distant. Together with my schoolmates and K we hired Dan to take us around the harbour and up the river. We got to see the jetties where the china clay is loaded on big boats and several others ldquopoint of interestsrdquo according to Dan. For instance the place whe

Hi again Just wanted to share a couple of pics with you from our favourite walking path facing the Atlantic. Maybe you geographically should call this sea The English Channel even here at this most south western part of England. But it definitely feels more like an Ocean than a channel so The Atlantic Ocean it is Enjoy

There is one world famous ldquomust seerdquo in Cornwall at least for them who consider themselves to be climate conscious and environmental friendly and you see a lot of those people in this place. Irsquom talking about ldquoEden Projectrdquo. A couple of huge bubbles in fact we noticed them from above when we arrived with our flight to Newquay with a lot of plants representing dif

A famous walk

The Hall walk is considered one of the most beautiful walks in England. Of course we had to try it. Well it would have been difficult not to since everyone in school talked about it day after dayhellip The path differ a lot from the coast path since it goes along the banks of Fowey River and the Pont Pill Creek. Steep slopes and lots of oaks and hazel. In many places the undergrowth is heavy

Just want you to know that we get along pretty well with the seagulls now a day. K says they ldquospeak to herrdquohellip Donrsquot know if that may be is more of a statement of Ks mental status after a couple of weeks in this little village totally dominated by the ldquosingingrdquo of seagulls or if itrsquos something she really experiences. They have a broad variety of sounds to

Pub Quiz

Right now this is my view from ldquotodayrsquos officerdquo the quay in Polruan. Just a few steps from our cottage. When you see it from the Fowey side it looks like the next picture. As you can see itrsquos a lot of palm trees in the neighbourhood. This place has a nice touch of Mediterranean style over it. Itrsquos rare that the temperature is sinking below zero during the winters

Finally at last it came The famous English weather anticipated by our teacher K the whole weak. A gigantic persistent low pressure has taken the British islands as a hostage. What to do a Saturday afternoon with the rain constantly drizzling outside Sitting in the cottage in front of the log fire with a nice cup of tea and a Agatha Christie novel Naah Wersquore Vikings for chrissake.

An English Garden

One afternoon K and I went to the Tee Shop and had lunch with my schoolmate A. Then we went to Headland Garden in Polruan. Itrsquos an old ladyrsquos private garden which she open up for public every Thursday and takes a little admission which totally goes to benefit the lifeboats in the harbour. And of course yoursquoll have the opportunity to have a cream tea in the garage as well. Just

A walk on the coast path

Why sit at home when you can be out there getting yourself aching legs and hurting feet K and I first went to explore the local camping site which turned out to be like a perfectly tended English garden. The lawn was cut with scissors and the hedges were shaped using razorblades at least it looked that way. The site was nearly empty since the tourist season hasnrsquot really begun yet. But

The travel day became what wersquod expected. A lot of mishaps but we finally did get to Cornwall nearly on time. Our flight from Skavsta was late of course and none of the baggage from our plane arriving Stansted ldquocould be locatedrdquo as an airport attendant put it. We waited for 45 minutes and then we got lucky after all. One of the passenger noticed by a coincidence that the ba
