The hike was beautiful and took us through Aspen trees and meadows covered in wildflowers.Once at Crested Butte we stopped at a bar for a few beers and a rest and in Jon39s case a huge creamy brownie Sundae and then walked through town to go on a s

Today is Country Club Classic Day...the aforementioned blind beer tasting event for the American Lung Association. I swapped my volunteering day so I could help prepare for the event and it was a busy day of making last minute scorecards and pretzel necklaces moving an office full of stuff to the venue and then making the venue gorgeous. The event took place at Casslemans Bar which is downtown. I

For a state primarily known for its production of gold and silver Colorado also was a coal producer. Crested Butte was the site. On January 24 1884 a tremendous blast shook the town as if an earthquake of monumental proportions had happened. The residents of course knew exactly what had occurred. Rescuers brought to the surface 59 bodies after thirtysix hours of grueling effort. The town als

We left Boise just after noon last Wednesday driving towards Idaho City the back way on Rocky Canyon Road a dirt road that cuts through the mountins. We made it to Idaho City in about an hour and decided to check out the town a bit. At the end of Main Street was a saloon called Diamond Lil39s where we stopped in for a beer. The place was decorated with all kinds of old and foreign currency a

Sunshine and Snow in Crested Butte

My husband our two children aged 10 and 8 and myself have decided we want to have a skiing vacation. Were all absolute beginners and weve chosen to go to Crested Butte largely because the mountain resort has a combined area at their Ski and Ride School where adults and kids are instructed together so we can learn in the same place and have fun as a family. There is also an Adventure

Its hard to tear away from the beautiful scene to start the drive to Ouray Colorado and the next part of our adventure. Since we have all day to make the short drive Alan and I explore the portion of West Elk Loop that travels from S

The ride here was amazing as always. We went over Lizard Head Pass right around 10 500 ft. There was a ton of snow but the roads were dry. We are 1500 some odd miles deep and we're starting to move a lot faster. On monday we head out for Monarch Pass
