Rain Cathedral Champagne

After our leisurely stroll through Verdun off to Reims we went in the heart of Champagne country amidst what seemed like the downpour of the century.Reims played a very important role in French history as it was the place where the kings of France were crowned. The most famous and cherished of these events was the coronation of Charles VII in the company of Joan of Arc.Thus the Cathedral of

We woke up early today as we wanted to make the first tour at Moet and Chandon and we didn't have a reservation. The shower was small and I laughed at Michael standing in it as he was shoulder to shoulder and could barely move as he tried to shower. He even hit his head on the sloped ceiling as the bathroom had sloped ceilings. We had arranged for breakfast at 830 and the German couple joined

Finding a place to eat in a new city can be a tricky thing. With a couple of strongminded fellow travelers even more so. Reims may not have gained its fame for the abundance of restaurants but like every French settlement with a population greater than two there are a few establishments to choose from. Finally we agree on trying one on what appears to be a rather major and popular square. The w

Today was the opportunity to answer one of the biggest mysteries in Australian social culture the ldquotrdquo in ldquoMoetrdquo CAN be heard. There my work is done. The day was more fulfilling than just this breakthrough in pronunciation. The Champagne region is to the north east of Paris on the border with Belgium and perhaps one of the most beautiful regions of the country. After a two

I woke up in Epernay from a good night sleep I rolled out of bed and took my shower first. I then woke Lori up as I headed down to breakfast. Lori came down 45 minutes later boasting how fast she was this morning. Yea if I have my way shersquoll be taking 5 minute showers and dressing as shersquos getting in the car. We loaded up the car and headed toward Reims Lori has mastered driving

After few weeks travelling in Asia we are switching continents...and here we are for few miles all around Europe. We dropped Leslie and Tiffany at there grandparents in Luxembourg and took the drive to Champagne Region for a very exiting program. First and most important it was the opportunity to see again Marie Chritophe and Thibault my ski buddies for the last 2 years. Thanks to three of y

This past weekend we just had a really relaxing weekend and didnrsquot get up to much. Kerianne Katrin Emily and I were supposed to go to Bordeaux France for the weekend but we ended up not being able to because of train reservations to Paris not being available. Therefore we ended up going to Champagne France for the night on Friday. After classes on Friday Emily and I went home and got al

It snowed this weekend. You can't tell now except for the fact that it is still freezing. Greta my friend from UPS came in on Thursday from London. She and two of her friends did the whirlwind tour and were gone again by Sunday morning. I spent the evening with them Thursday walking the ChampsElysees eating chocolate and cream covered waffles and walking more but spent the rest of the week

After about a month in any place you just need to get out. Your head is at the bursting point because of everything you have had to absorb to live. So my friends Sophia Kevin and Trixi and I went to Reims Rheims in English for the weekend. I think so many years working in a museum have caused me to become somewhat of a history buff. I spent the weekend basking in the history of a city

I had the great fortune to be part of a band of English retailers and wine merchants to visit Reims at the behest of LVMH Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey to visit Veuve Clicquot and Krug.
Today was our designated Champagne day so off we went on the train to Reims. Besides being one of the champagne capitals of the world Reims is also home to Cathedral de NotreDame. Twentysix monarchs were crowned in this cathedral and when you see it you know why. It is absolutely huge and one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. The Cathedral was heavily damaged in WWI and was la

We did a lot of kilometers today the weather was dry and for once not vastly hot. I decided that it was cool enough to wear gloves. None of the riding was vastly exciting but the roads were mostly empty so I could go fast cruising at 120 to 130 kmh.We ended up as per the plan in Chalons en Champagne which means less than 300 kilometers to Calais. Tomorrow we go to St Omer a nice place nea
