Champagne Time

Having enjoyed many fine glasses of bubbly over the years it would have been extremely remiss to not visit the Champagne Region Autumn is such a beautiful time to visit as the colours add magnificently to the rolling hills. We had Saturday in Reims in a really funky hotel then drove over to Epernay on Sunday where there really is a Champagne Avenue. We did the tour at Moet Chandon which was

Rain Cathedral Champagne

After our leisurely stroll through Verdun off to Reims we went in the heart of Champagne country amidst what seemed like the downpour of the century.Reims played a very important role in French history as it was the place where the kings of France were crowned. The most famous and cherished of these events was the coronation of Charles VII in the company of Joan of Arc.Thus the Cathedral of

Epernay Reims

We woke up early today as we wanted to make the first tour at Moet and Chandon and we didn't have a reservation. The shower was small and I laughed at Michael standing in it as he was shoulder to shoulder and could barely move as he tried to shower. He even hit his head on the sloped ceiling as the bathroom had sloped ceilings. We had arranged for breakfast at 830 and the German couple joined

Paris to Epernay

Today is Thursday although I must confess I need to ask what day it is to remember. We walked across the street from our hotel this morning to Pomme De Pain for cafe and croissants. Back to the hotel to pack. I didn't sleep well last night as I kept wondering how we were going to move our heavy suitcases from Paris to Epernay and back again via the train. Eventually I had my epiphany and real

The Weatherman

Finding a place to eat in a new city can be a tricky thing. With a couple of strongminded fellow travelers even more so. Reims may not have gained its fame for the abundance of restaurants but like every French settlement with a population greater than two there are a few establishments to choose from. Finally we agree on trying one on what appears to be a rather major and popular square. The w

Excursion to the champagne region

Today was the opportunity to answer one of the biggest mysteries in Australian social culture the ldquotrdquo in ldquoMoetrdquo CAN be heard. There my work is done. The day was more fulfilling than just this breakthrough in pronunciation. The Champagne region is to the north east of Paris on the border with Belgium and perhaps one of the most beautiful regions of the country. After a two

Onward to Paris and the Tour De France

I woke up in Epernay from a good night sleep I rolled out of bed and took my shower first. I then woke Lori up as I headed down to breakfast. Lori came down 45 minutes later boasting how fast she was this morning. Yea if I have my way shersquoll be taking 5 minute showers and dressing as shersquos getting in the car. We loaded up the car and headed toward Reims Lori has mastered driving

Were heading toward the Champagne Region

We woke up at 7 AM well at least I did. I woke Lori she said she in a groggy voice slept soo good. I told her to go and shower first and that I would be second. That was a mistake After 45 minutes and twisting my legs like a bread bag tie I yelled out what are you doing in there She came out Irsquom just putting on my makeup. Irsquove gotta go She said all you have to do is tell

I've just realised how much time I'm spending writing all the little bits of information we pick up on the way so from now on I'll try to be a little bit more brief. Besides I've got some other things on my mind now. After getting up round 10ish we leisurely gathered our belongings and made our way out of the campsite. We headed through the centre of Bastogne and saw their pride and joy... a ta

After few weeks travelling in Asia we are switching continents...and here we are for few miles all around Europe. We dropped Leslie and Tiffany at there grandparents in Luxembourg and took the drive to Champagne Region for a very exiting program. First and most important it was the opportunity to see again Marie Chritophe and Thibault my ski buddies for the last 2 years. Thanks to three of y

Who knew the too of these would be related We headed out of Paris yesterday for some change of scenery due to the weather being cold in the city center. Both of us have never been to the Champagne region but it is very nice. There are numerous internet cafes here but the keyboard now is so complicated. In order to finish a sentence with a period you have to stop and shift a key. then every

Foret D'Orient

Last night was too hot to sleep. This is a paradox as we have been in places far hotter it is probably the humidity that makes the heat unpleasant. We opened the windows at 4 a.m. and turned on the fan. This meant we could hear the trains as they ran by including TGV's going very fast but it was easier to sleep. We got a good breakfast with lots of coffee then set off for Fort D'Orient.
This past weekend we just had a really relaxing weekend and didnrsquot get up to much. Kerianne Katrin Emily and I were supposed to go to Bordeaux France for the weekend but we ended up not being able to because of train reservations to Paris not being available. Therefore we ended up going to Champagne France for the night on Friday. After classes on Friday Emily and I went home and got al

Paris to Troyes...As we passed through Paris last night I felt disappointed about missing out on seeing some of the world's most loved sites of which I had heard so much. And since we took the train right around the city as well as at night I didn't see a thing. Yet our guidance was clear. There was nothing there for us. Don't we get to have any fun I whined. That night we stayed at The

It snowed this weekend. You can't tell now except for the fact that it is still freezing. Greta my friend from UPS came in on Thursday from London. She and two of her friends did the whirlwind tour and were gone again by Sunday morning. I spent the evening with them Thursday walking the ChampsElysees eating chocolate and cream covered waffles and walking more but spent the rest of the week
