I should sell this to Micro$oft so that they can use it for wallpaper.
Slipping down the Gorge

When I first thought of this trip, the presupposition went something like: "Hey, I reckon I could get from Blighty to Oz without ever seeing an airport". Less than 2 weeks in and I have taken three flights. Bollocks to that idea then.

Currently in Crete, caught up with The Folks, Sim, X and little Niamh who were taking in a week here. That was a nice thing all round and it was all possible thanks to the marvel that is SMS. Package tour land here.

The Greeks are all very congenial except, for some reason, the people at the information desks at bus stations who can all fuck off.

Legs, feet and arse are still in pain after walking down the Samarian Gorge (see fab pics of well-nice scenery). The blister situation may have been better had I not been mountain-goating it down in an unsensible pair of Converse. An absolutely excellent affair. To round things off, we got down well before the old biddies and had a spare 3 hours in the pub for a few light ales before the ferry.

At the port of Hania now. Going to take a trip to Karpathos for a bit and then possibly come back to Hania, as I have managed to scrounge a lift aboard a 64ft sooperyacht which leaves on the 1st of August. Sounds great, but it will only be for a very short trip. If my last post sounded rather scathing, it may be because so far this year I have managed to crew with some sailing gods as skippers, so it came as a wee surprise to be landed with a berk.

Plan now: "Do" a few islands and then Do Turkey.
