After an uneventful crossing of the border from Canada to the US we made our way to Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor is a quaint town with plenty of little shops and restaurants. We didn't stay as long as we should have so there isn't that much to describe. However, the next day we went to Acadia national park and spent some time there. We woke up to a typical fall Maine day, drizzling rain and plentiful fog. As we clibed the road in the park, the visibility became so bad that we weren't able to enjoy fully what the park has to offer. In particular the fall foliage that already was wonderful in foggy conditions, would have been breathtaking on a sunny day. We saw several waterfalls and sweeping views of the ocean.

Portland, Maine:
Portland is an attractive but uneventful city. It is the biggest city of Oregon but at a population of 64000 I would consider it small. We toured the city on foot and by car. 2 of the notable attractions we saw were the observation tower from which approaching ships would be announced to the citizens awaiting people or merchandise. A system of flags was used to identify each ship and estimated time to port. The next attraction was the tour of the Shipyard Brewing Co. The tour was very informative and fun. We got to see the making of beer from start to finish. Owning a microbrewery one day might be fun!!! At the end of the tour we got to the most exciting part: tasting 😊😊 After the purchase of a few useless souvenirs we drove to Kennebunkport.

Kennebunkport, Maine:
Kennebunkport is a vacation site for many people as well as some political dignitaries that like to spend tax money on expensive vacations 😊. After braving a hellish traffic there, we arrived to a cute little town full of small restaurants and shops. Although it is a cute place, we both though it was way overrated. Everything was unnecessarily pricey and the food was a hair better than bad. We have eaten top quality food for 1/4 the price on our trip. We limited our stay to a couple hours and a few pictures and left to fight with the slow traffic....
