Well India what can I say an "interesting" place which in all honesty I would be more than happy never to visit again after our experiences although I might be pursuaded to visit southern india. Some of the reasons we had such a bad time can be highlighted by listing the follwing based on popularity of Inidan past times

1) Staring
2) Spitting
3) Going to the toilet where ever they please including the footpath of the main street
4) Beeping the horn continuosly for no particular reason
5) Cricket (in the list for illustrative purposes)

For anyone that knows how mad Indians are about cricket the list above says alot for instance when we were asked where we were from and we replied melbourne all they said was "MCG"

So a quick run down of our experience in India after arriving in the late evening we jumped in a taxi who decided driving the wrong way up a one-way highway was a good idea and i mean who could have blamed him we only almost got hit 4 times and only narrowly missed killing a man on the side of the road who was riding his bike

without any lights it was only that we swerved at the last minute to save the poor man's life. After being harrassed and seeing how dirty Delhi was we were keen to get out of there, it didnt seem to resemble a capital city at all. So we headed to Agra to see the Taj Mahal which turned out as the only highlight of our visit although Agra is an absolute DIVE cosindering it has one of the seven wonders of the world. The Taj however is definantly something if you get the chance that you have to go and see. It is spectacular and the detail is absolutly amazing, you can see why it took 20,000 workers 22 years to complete with all the hand crafted precious stones inset into the marbel.

Following day we went to get an overnight train to Gorakpur and seeing we wanted to get away from our driver we headed for the station very early only to get stuck in a traffic jam which highlighted the complete lack of logical thinking showed by locals when driving. To quickly describe the situation there it was a street with one lane going each way and one lane blocked off so instead of letting a few cars through from each side everyone just tried to push ahead and so there we cars on bith sides of the road facing each other in a mexican standoff we waited for 1 1/2 hours and the road was less than 1km long.
It gets better though because we got to the station at 2:30 for our 6:30 train which didnt end up leaving until 11:00pm. Finally next morning we arrived and jumped straight onto a bus headed for Nepal I have never been so glad to get out of a place in my life
