Today we are going to see the redwoods! It was a day both of us had been awaiting for a long time. It was well worth the time we spent there. After a nightmare of a drive from lake Tahoe to the coast in the middle of the night through the mountains we certainly had high expectations! These trees are so large, the pictures do not do them justice. We were barely taller than the roots of these trees. Just looking at them and reflecting on their age (some we were told can be up to 2000 years old) commands respect and awe. It is a pity most of them were cut back in the late 1800s. We also got the chance to see some elk that were hanging out in the meadows nearby.
